wondering about hermies

Got some seeds from a friend. He's told me that these seeds were produced because some plants in his closet hermied on him (due to lighting screw ups i think)

So he gave me these seeds free and now I'm wondering a few things. How will the quality of the bud be? If I were to grow these seeds and they were hermies, but not full throttle where all the bud was pollinated. Let's say only a few of the lower buds got seeded, how useful are those seeds? If the plant pollinates itself, would the offspring plant be degraded or would it keep it's genetic code in tact and produce the same quality bud as the mother?

+rep for good answers. Thanks

You do not want to grow hermie seeds. They can hermie on you to different degrees and it's a real PITA to go into your flower room every day and pick off male flowers. Should you do a perfect job and get all the male flowers picked off before damage is done, your product will be totally fine. If a few seeds appear, throw them away as it's not a good idea to grow hermie seeds.

If you choose to grow your hermie beans, don't grow too many as to make the task of removing male flowers too time consuming, because it's something you will have to do for at least the first 35 days of flower.

I'm not too worried about picking off male flowers. These seeds are all I have so I really have no other choice. So if they dont get too badly pollinated the bud should still be pretty potent? I'm thinking if there is only a few seeds in the bud, and its still strong stuff, then I would have an endless supply of seeds right? As long as it gets me high I'm not too worried about it. I'm a thrifty guy lol.

Yes, if you don't have a problem plucking off those little male testicles then go ahead, just check them daily like homebrewer said. The less seeds, the more potent the bud will be. Good luck bro.

The seeds came from a hermie plant? That means they're feminized! Most feminized seeds grow female plants, unless stressed out. I've never had a problem with a fem seed. Peace

I'm pretty sure feminized breeders are taking 'hermie' pollen from a plant and pollinating another plant, not the plant that produced the flowers. They are also putting the plant through a process causing a female to hermie which is different than a plant going hermie on its own.

In regards to potency of a hermie plant, it shouldn't be any less or more than the genetics allow, meaning the fact that it's hermieing on you shouldn't hurt the quality of your smoke unless the plant gets pollinated to a high degree.

this is really bugging me, where do you people get this fact? tbh i think it's just an urban myth, because i've never seen anybody say that on this forum without getting slated... i think some growers do it with pollen from a hermi on a fem plant, or some shizz like that.
