Flushing is the practice of pouring a vast amount of water through the plants root system in one hit.
Overwatering is caused by watering too often and not allowing the pot to dry a little.
Flushing should generally take less than 20mins. However there are a few (myself included) that believe flushing excessive amounts of water through a root zone causes too much of a decrease in root EC which can cause problems. Usually a flush should be followed by a well balanced low strength feed.
so the left over water that doesnt drain out will be ok? i just want to make sure because i have my first harvest just about ready , about another 2 weeks
The soil will hold onto water and retain it to give it to the plant when the plant needs it.
Just make sure if you are using water for 2weeks that you allow the normal drying out of your medium as you would any other time before you water again.
yeah, you're gonna have some water stay in the container, thats unavoidable; all the salts you wanna flush drain outta the bottom so long as it's a well draining pot.
dont forget to use blackstrap mollasses after/when your flush. I personally only wait a week b4 harvest to start flushing, tastes just as good when i did still flush for 2 weeks.
