Working on my 400 watt setup

hey guys. I've got a 4x1.5x6 cabinet and a cool tube 400watt that I've never used before. The plan is to grow sea of green style in the cabinet. My question is is there any particular strain that works well with SOG (I like kushes, and anything heavy-hitting), and how many plants with what size pots would you have in that space. Also, how long would you veg them? Just trying to get some ideas.

I would reccomend only 3-4 plants max guessing on each one needs a foot of space. Transplant them into a 10in pot if there is more room maybe step up to a 12in or larger. Vegging them is totally up to you just keep in mind that during flowering they can double in size if not more, but im no expert just keep on reading up.

You going to do soil? You may be able to setup something hydro or DWC (aeroponics) that would be built custom to the size of your area and fill more area with more plants? What is your reasoning for sog? You want to do multi strains? It is all how you want to grow, you could do two plants and scrog....basically top, fim, lst and put down a scrog net so they wont grow so high and fill up that area. I grow in a 2'x4'x8 area. The 400 works best in a 3 x 3 area so I really utilize 2'x3' area and try not to go over 3' tall as the light doesn't penetrate the lower parts. I have done 2-6 plants in that area....6 being to much, 4 being almost to much.....but I found the plants seem to know how much light and space they get so my 6 didn't yield as much per plant as 4 per plant or 3 per plant but in the end they all ended up filling in that space and yielding about the same total amount of bud. I am now down to 2 and top, lst and scrog (or not) but have bushier plants with more of an even wider canopy. So it is all what your trying to accomplish. I rather not work with multiple plants and to many different strains since I am in a limited area.

that was my original plan was to train just a couple of plants, but I'm trying to cut down on veg time so i figured having more plants and not training them would be quicker being that I don't have a seperate area for veg. And no, I was actually leaning towards growing all one strain (I was thinking HSO's version of Blue Dream)

Awesome set-up man, and yeah, I was planning on having a 160 at the bottom and a 160 at the top connected to the light and venting into a 3inch hole that's in the cieling of this closet

If doing a true SOG (bunch of small budsicles) rather than just lollipopping...4 to 9 plants per sq foot...flower around 4" to 6" clones so when stretch is over they finish around 8" to 18" tall (stretch depends on genetics but rule of thumb is anywhere from 2x to 3x the starting size).I think one plant centered and scrogged will yield better though in that particular setup as a 400w HPS's max coverage is 3x3 and in a 4' long tent the edges won't be lit very well.

Also,if you end up using an active intake (fan powered) instead of passive intake (not fan powered) then be sure your intake fan moves less air then your exhaust fan,otherwise you'll be creating a positive pressure environment which will blow the sides of the tent out and allow unscrubbed marijuana odor laden hot air to leak out any holes,leaks in your tent.Negative pressure allows air to be suckrd in through any and all leaks in the tent,meaning no marijuana odor laden air escapes the tent without being scrubbed of odor first.

If using active intake: make sure intake fan moves less air than exhaust fan to ensure a negative pressure environment.

If using passive intake: Make sure the area (in square inches) of the passive intake is at least twice the area of your exhaust.So,if using a 4" exhaust fan (4" circle has an area of 12.56 square inches) then you'll want a passive intake with at least 25.12 square inches of area.

hmmm. I'm starting to think it would come out best if I started with five plants hoping for 4 keepers and just veg them a week or two longer and top and train them. Does this sound good? also, if i do go with HSO's version of Blue Dream does anybody have any advice on how long to veg.

So what do you think. Should I go active or passive intake? I'm thinking maybe passive would be better for the space to save on electric and not have the ambient heat of an extra fan in the room, but I've never known anybody whose done it like this before so I don't know what to expect.

one plant scrogged out.. I weaved it through my screen though instead of tying down and it worked well and easy supercropping I just fill out screen 75 percent so u can weave the stretch through as well when u flip and u will be good brotha
