Yeaah dude what moebius said. brown is death. You may want to try rockwool or perlite cloning to start out.
Too, hempy solo cups of coco coir is almost guaranteed to produce...I have a %100 success rate but do it rarely as I grow from seed. I do clones for others occasionally though and the nice part is you can grow it right up till transplant time in the cup. I have the smaller Turbo-clone 25 site aero-cloner, and have always had problems with the bath getting slimed. I've messed with the light leaks and and adding H2O2 and this and that but quite frankly mine has been a painful experience breaking it down and cleaning it out. A friend and I might have the root cause....he and I both had issues starting the day we added "Super Thrive" to the bath. Also, I have yet to try it in winter months where temps are must lower.

Attitude has a sale on beans this weekend. Not sure if anyone uses them, but thought id let everyone know. 10 free seeds when you spend 35 pounds. (Not sure how many $ it translates to. Not trying to advertise, just sharing. On a good note my first order should be here any day! Can't wait to get my first grow started!

I get great results from my turbo cloner. I use clonex gel in the cuttings and fill the cloner with distiller water. I let it run 24/7 and within 2 weeks I've got great roots, 3 weeks and they are generally long enough to hit the hempy res.

The larger the res in the cloner the cooler the water will be. Each of my 50 site DIY cloners are in an 84 L box that I fill half-way and even though I use a large pond pump, my water temps remain at a relatively cool temperature.

I have seen smaller cloners online but have always thought the pump might heat the res.

Anything you unsure of just PM me. Apologies for my poor paint skills.

edit:

Oh after taking the cutting, just remove all the leaves on the stem and just leave the top growing tip plus a few fan leaves to get it started............ Dip the end in a root hormone gel.

Also... Try making your cut at a 45 degree / diagonal angle. This will provide maximum surface area for the roots to shoot from.
+1... I also do a small split in the bottom of the stem at the 45 degree cut and I scrape just a little off the sides of the stem, maybe 1/2" up.

thanks mo. i think i did a alright job with the cutting getting task. i think i might have made some a bit small. (2inches) what will happen to those that are that small? okay so i got my massive cloner. ezclone 120 site. didnt expect it to be the size of a small coffin. i cut cuttings in 45 degree angle then split the stem a bit then dipped in gel. hydro store owner friend said gel is better for aeroponic cloners. idk. i put half my crop into the cloners just to test it out to see if any will wilt. some wilted at first but then got better. i mist the shit out of them when i was at the growhouse. ill be gone for 12 hrs so i hope they can stay legit until i get back to them.

so i mist and keep them healthy for 5-7 days to see roots. then i hit the rez with 1.1 ml per gallon of root excelurator. then keep them in cloner for another 2 weeks until roots get beard looking? do clones hit rez faster in hempy then seeds? will i be able to get a good sized mother in a month and a half to get clones from too?

thanks
I only mist my clones once a day. Just be patient, you should be fine bro, once you get it dialed in you will have 100% success in rooting in your aero cloner. I haven't lost a cutting in well over a year, I usually take more cuttings then I need then end up throwing a few of the weaker rooting cuttings away lol.

So I checked my water temps and it was 28.8 c degrees. I guess it's back to rock wool until I can find a way to control water temps

having just started cloning again im looking for what suits me best, atm i have a converted nft tray using rockwool and feeding once a day, this is getting scrapped as they suffer due to the fact i only visit my grow every 3 days and cant mist ect. T he same goes for my bubbler i made , both would work well given the appropriate care.
i have come up with a system that will be easy for me and my circumstances, i have been mulling this one for a while and could do with opinions please.
first of all, the clones will placed directly in the hempy which will be coco with a perlite base, then the tops of the bottles will be placed on top of the hempy to give me a single dome propagator, the lid will be removed for a vent. the coco will be charged with half strength rhizo and i will be using clonex, sound ok to you lot?

I have thought about the possibility of cloning in the 2L Hempy, using the method you have just described. ...

I can see it working with Coco or Mapito no problem. but I would STILL place the clones in the aero cloner for a couple of days before this, just to speed up the rooting.

I have to say that I much prefer my Aero cloner to any other way. I unblock any clogs in my cloner nozzles by steam cleaning which is easy enough and every now and again I must reglue the 'curtains' on the inside to prevent it leaking. ... I never need to mist my clones and get near 100% success.

have a look at the peltier coil, its pricey though !

i am very very lazy and i have had nothing but bother with the bubbler, the nft worked quite well but i wanted the root structure from bubbler for the hempys, now i find myself too lazy to sort my bubbler problems out lol and if this works it will be so easy , although it will take up some floor space.
i do like the idea of starting the ball rolling in the bubbler ,that will speed things up

I ran DWC for a bit, essentially its the same thing as a bubble cloner, what are the problems with your bubble cloner?

I thought they were pretty much maintenance free. Unlike Aero's they have no mist/spray nozzles to clean. I was thinking of moving from Aero to Bubble but after what youve said I'm thinking twice.

As far as my experiences cloning, I find that rapid rooters are a sure thing. This last round I even tried out jiffy peat pucks that worked just as good as rapid rooters and for much cheaper! I have a turboklone 24 site and didn't have the best success in the device. It was my first time using a single T5 for cloning (kept it WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to close to the clones and they killed themselves, well most of them, trying to grow without roots). While I did have about 60% using the turboklone, what makes it NOT stoner easy is the fact that it requires cleaning after every use. If one were to follow the K.I.S.S rule, misting once a day vs. cleaning after every use / keeping PH steady, I'm going to side with misting once a day. I've gotten roots in rapid rooters in 7 days without a problem.

It all comes down to what works the best for you. You can get a tray of rapid rooters for $20 / 12 quid and that alone saves me X total hours for the grow. However, I am very high right now and if there's an easy method to cleaning these cloners that saves time I would love to know.

i set a basic one up, just a storage tub with holes in the top and an airstone in the res. the first round all rooted well but a thick slime coated the stems and they took forever ,about 3+ weeks and the yellowing was horrific, but they all survived. the batch i have on the go now have yellowed quicker ,they are at about 2 weeks now and only 3 have rooted. I took many more than i needed so its not all bad and the ones i have put in hempys last week are all showing nice new growth , the water temp was nice and cool and the only thing i didn't do really was mist them or dome them, this is my first bubbler attempt , what am i doing wrong?

The slime needs light. ergo you HAVE a light leak bro.

Also. ... The 'bubbling' in a cloner is for 2 reasons. Reason 1, Aerating the water. Reason 2, is to create a void between the water and the lid of the bubbler which is 'wet and wild' and can keep the stems constantly wet.

The bubbles should be sufficient to create in the void, a violently wet and dark environment, full boil rather than a simmer.

By the sounds of it, the reason why your clones are yellowing is that the rooting is taking too long and the clones are using up all the available (N) stored in their cells. You could try misting with 1/5 bloom nutes. Although if the cloner is working correctly, this is definitely not needed.

You can actually clone in just a cup of standing water. Ive never done it with Cannabis but others have.

Cloning in a cup of water by onthed10008

Felt like I needed to expand on this subject considering other growers have begun to do this purely on my rants and raves on exactly how simple this method actually is!

First U cut the plant in the desired location.I prefer the Tops of the plants themselves(Topping). If U cut the stem be sure to leave at least one node for future growth on the stem.(Future Cloning) Or future (Bud sites)

Second Be sure to cut @ a 45 degree angle with a SHARP clean knife, shears or razor. I used a pearing knife for awhile.

Third Be sure to have a cup of water handy to place the cutting in directly upon cutting. Its Best to cut in water so air does not enter the main cutting stalk.

Fourth Scraping. This is done quickly. U want to scrape at least the bottom 1/2 inch "SKIN" off the bottom of of the main stalk of ur cutting.
THIS means removing only the OUTSIDE layer of green "SKIN".GENTLY. Just be carefull.

Fifth U can place these cuttings directly in the cup of water. Although ive been experimenting with dipping them in rooting hormone and superthrive ive had awesome results in just placing them in plain water.TAP WATER.

Sixth Cloning medium. This consists of the cup and the water. I cut my cups.( I use regular red plastic party cups found everywhere !)I cut the cups to size to be sufficient enuff to brace the tops of the cuttings (SIZE of cuttings).Meaning, the upper fan leaves dwell on the top of the cut cup.

Seventh This is the last step. WATER LEVEL IN CUP. I put enuff water in my cup to completely cover the area which I scraped. Usaully 1/2 inch to a quarter. THIS water is CHANGED AND WATCHED daily.

Reason being. Cutting drink lots of water sometimes so stay on top keep ur water level consistent. Changing ur water only enstills U are taking every action neccesary to be sure ur water will not stagnate on ur new babies.

Its that simple hope this clears up things for a few people. Its very simple.

Just for fun, one day I would like to try the marcott method for propagating new girls. A marcott is where you scrape a stem on the mother plant and surround it with sphagnum peat using plastic wrap to keep it moist. Once roots start forming then you cut the stem below the new root mass and transplant. I always though it would be a tedious process to get the clump of moss to stay put while you wrapped the plastic around it. Now with the advent of "Rapid Rooters" and the like it would be so freaking easy to slit the side of the RR down to the center, slide it onto your stem and then wrap. Only issue I see would be the mass of a wet RR on a smaller stem making it hang down...you'd have to support the stem I imagine, unless you choose the central stem on a stout plant. Maybe you could even cut the RR in half to reduce it's weight.
