I eliminated most of the Vermiculite, using almost stright cleaned Perlite. With GH Maxibloom you do not need to add the Cal/Mag. You do need to watch the pH. IMHO!3:1 perlite/vermiculite, using GH Maxi-Bloom, plus Cal-Mag and pH+
I done straight perlite, this grow was a going back to fundamentals, as for Cal-Mag, I must use it, no options with my water...as for pH, I use drops, good enough for meI eliminated most of the Vermiculite, using almost stright cleaned Perlite. Hey ISK,, Have you thought about using Silica instead of PH UP? I have been using Silica to raise my PH lately, not sure its doing them a world of good, but thought I would throw that one out there to see if others are using different alternatives to PH UP and PH DOWN.I done straight perlite, this grow was a going back to fundamentals, as for Cal-Mag, I must use it, no options with my water...as for pH, I use drops, good enough for me

I feed with House & Garden nutes and their base nutes drop your ph. Their feed chart recommends bringing the ph up 5.8 before using their additives. Yea, when I use the Pure Blend Tea, it really drops the PH, but the HYDROPLEX in flowering really TANKS the PH, and I need to use quite bit per gallon to bring it back up, so I have been using the Dynagrow's Silica Blast to get me where I need to be.I feed with House & Garden nutes and their base nutes drop your ph. Thanks for the info Rusty. I did not know that silica pushed ph up. I used it one grow and adjusted my ph as usual (ph down to 6.0) but didn't check with the meter, because my tap water ph was consistent. My plants got thumped, I thought it was because I was adding to soil while I was in veg. So I just stopped using it. With new knowledge I think I'll give it a try again.Hey ISK,, Have you thought about using Silica instead of PH UP? Yea its good stuff! The Botanicare HYDROPLEX I use during flower really Tanks the PH, so the amount of Silicon I have to use goes up as I peak in my grow. I assume this is OK, but it does not seem to need over 5ml per gallon in order to get me back to 5.9. I am using the Dynagro Pro-Tekt Silicon, and have also used the Mad Farmer Silicon cause I got a sample. Thanks for the info Rusty. I did not know that silica pushed ph up.
