I don't think it matters a whole lot if you run hydroton or perlite in the rez. I'm guessing that the hydroton takes up more space (volume) than perlite leaving less space for water. Then again I don't know it that would make a difference since you are bottom feeding. These are bottom fed with tubing hoses with Hydroton on the bottom with Airstones running. What do you think of Hydroton on the bottom instead of perlite? This is my second (Hempy) run and everything seems fine but i read a few things recently that made me second guess that decision and might change

I do like the fact that you are using a mix of coco and perlite above the rez instead of straight perlite since the coco wicks much better than perlite. I've got one big question for you concerning bottom watering. Does your medium ever get saturated all the way to the top?
How the fuck are you cowboy, good to see you again. Look forward to seeing you shit. I am still trugging along, only I have change my grow method and damn near got it all dialed in.Hey everyone , merry x mas
I used to float around these forums and in particular this area very frequently in years past , just under a different handle, if any of you remember me as FJG (fuckjeffgoldbloom) that was me.
Back to present day, I still rock hempy buckets 75/25 perlite with flora nova nutes . Now I’m under cob led lighting and have more space to work with so I’m able to keep moms and keep strains and dial them in, as in the past my 4x4 bloom tent turned into the Wild West with many strains, one will
Finish, the one in veg waiting goes and so on and so on. Now my main goal is filling out the canopy as much as I can and keeping the height even . Cloning has helped this dramatically.
Now that I have room I would like to do a couple side by sides for my own taste buds, comparing hempy taste to soil, and my Area 51 led lights to my new cobs, which produce great , so happy with my multiple purchases from timber grow lights.
Simple my question is what size soil container should I run next to my 2 gallon hempy buckets for a close comparison.
Second, I have an issue with purple stems would like some opinions as the other post wasn’t received well...

FYeah I remember you. Most welcome back!
That is an interesting question...what is the volume ratio for a fixed yield, soil vs soil-less.
In theory soil-less is a hydro method, if passive...I might throw out 5 gallons...more, to be sure.
Take care.
I been doing well, having fun with the extra room , how about youHow the fuck are you cowboy, good to see you again. Look forward to seeing you shit. I am still trugging along, only I have change my grow method and damn near got it all dialed in.
