I agree, I have been defoliating for a while now, I think it does help particularly with a SOG grow. I also trim off the lowest branches around week 2-4, focusing the bud density on the upper canopy. What height was your group when you started them? What do you anticipate your full stretch height to be? Are you familiar with the branching habit of this strain?Yes, I will be defoliating. I usually start the liquid KB at 1-1.5 ml in late week 3 and use it all the way until the last week before harvest, then I switch to the powder and leave out the liquid. I only use the powder in 2 or 3 waterings just before the end, and I dont ever exceed the package recommendations of 1/4 tsp/gallon. I don't overuse the liquid, I build from 1.5ml in the later part of week 3 then only use maybe 2.5-4 ml/gallon throughout the next 5 weeks. I think the bottle says you can use up to 5 ml/gallon but I personally saw no difference in 3ml V. 5ml/gallon in past runs (other than more $$ in my pocket from not using as much KB)
I also trim off any branches/sites that I deem will not produce enough to either make it worthwhile or take useful energy from the main cola. This is a new batch of seeds I produced a few years ago. Only thing I can kind of match it up to, is from the few I did outdoors. They were all probably in the range of 3-6" to start off. The shorter ones in the middle (Swiss Cheese X) produce a nice long, thick main cola (Will post a couple pix of them later). The other 2 (Cristal Limit X / otherwise known as the Pinks, Profile pic) had some stretch to them but nothing to crazy. Everything usually ends up around 20-24" in my set-up. This time around I am running the first 2 weeks on the 400W setting with a MH bulb. That being said they may not stretch as far, but we will see. They all had the Christmas tree look with the Swiss cheese putting most of it's energy into the main cola, The others seemed to spread their focus around evenly for a nice bush/tree structure. How much and how are you feeding your garden? I have done 5 grows and every time I flip to flower, the top fan leaves start to eagle claw and the edges also fold downward like an upside down boat. I figure it is from too much N, but it happens every time I flip to flower running less than 800ppm bloom nutes on 0.5x scale (smallish plants / root ball). Your leaves look deep green and are not having issues with eagle clawing which makes me second guess my 'too much N' theory. This is my experience with both Dyna-Gro and Pure Blend Pro.
This particular one I didn't build but bought But I have some that I have build. Here's one that I built. This particular one has cali connections Girl Scout cookies from seed. Every time i start from seed I always germ my seeds in a cup of water then onto the rapid rooters.
