World Of Hempy

Just thought i'd post a picture of my first ever plant that I grew using the hempy method. I started it from seed in soil, and transplanted it into straight perlite. Talk about beginner's luck - it was a bag seed that grew two large heavy colas (topped) and rock hard buds below with a 400w HPS, and was a kick-butt high:

I successfully re-vegged it because I didn't take clones, and I had another nice harvest, (and clones)!
I'm a believer in Hempy, and I plan on going back to it after growing in soil since.

hope these upload.. heres my veg100_3149.jpg
the three seeds I have going are Feminized Big Bud from vision seeds. These are in light warrior mix and planted directly, and are 2+ weeks old.
I believe they stunted for the first week or so due to moisture+ heat stress.. The soil temps were constant ~73 and watering was constant. I also wasn't giving any nutes, being new to light warrior once they put up the 3rd set of leaves I saw the bottom dying off, so I started in at 1/4 dose nutes and things seem to be finally speeding up.
For the setup, in there i have 1 tower fan (lasko) 1 4" exhaust fan by Elite Air Products. the floor you see is an "air floor", it has a passive intake underneath it. Really digging FJG's idea though, simple and very nice , and has drip catchers! The lights are individual 3x 2-bulb 2 foot t5 with the 6500k HO bulbs, and then 1 regular 2' warm white t5 in a single bulb fixture making 7 total t5's in the veg chamber. digital soil thermometer is used to monitor root temps and I have even been using a moisture meter cause I'm unfamiliar with this light warrior stuff, I don't think i really like it but we'll see how well i do with it next time..
anyway I'm hoping these big bud seeds take off, i plan to take them into 3gal air pots in the next few days. If anyone has any interesting method on how they start their seeds I'm interested. The reason i chose soil over hempy is for ease of watering and familiarity of using soil. Also hoping myco's will be easier to work with (without buying hydro myco additives) and give greater benefits.

As for hempy.... I have the two plants that i re-vegged and put into the flower chamber on the November 1st. It looks like a lil HPS shock but i believe the adjustment could have been worse.
in here i run a 6" fan by elite air products and do the same air floor design. this space is about 2.5X as long and ~1.5x as wide as the veg chamber. I fit last grow 32x 3L hempys in here with 2 fans (one opposite another on each far end of the rectangle)
there was insufficient light so i put some of them outside, flowered some and chopped them early so that I could heavily flower the rest, it was a zoo in there, and i had a lot of trimming back to do.
for that run i ended up taking the side 4' dual t5 fixtures down (two total) and putting two 150w HPS fixtures at the end and shutting the lighting track off.
this run i plan to put the t5's back in, get high output bulbs, and turn the track on (if I fill out the space)
here are the two revegged hempy's

on the right is "purp" bagseed clone that was re-vegged

to the left you see the afghan goo bagseed clone that was revegged. Notice the afghan has a way shorter stock, def. indica dominant, and to keep the height down with the purp, most likely sativa, i had to bend the stem all the way back making a big sideways U, but it takes up the normal amount of space so whatever :p'

and heres my flower room

anyways I'm in progress of making an aerocloner, and if people want I'm about to go update my window farms page! stop on by and add in your 2cents!! there are hempy herbs there too! https://www.rollitup.org/vertical-growing/549114-window-farms-2.html

also wanted to mention the hempy's are botanicare compress coco.
I also have the exhaust fan in the flowering room set to run for 15 minutes after the lights shut off... should the exhaust fan be on 24/7 if the room is build very tight? I only leave on the small oscillating fan.
how important is fresh air during the night time? i was thinking about taking a small 5" quiet crappy fan and putting it in the intake to run 24/7 to supply air for nighttime, but not have to listen to the loud big fan for a nice 12 hours.

Nizza just put a small computer fan 12 volt and let her rip on the intake, fresh air is nice and the c fans have good pull are small and are quiet.

if i have a fan like that on in my passive intake while the big exhaust is on, won't it overload the fan and wear it down?

Try building a sound dampening box around your fans. I can't remember where the link is to show how. But my gro in my sig shows what I mean. Peace!!

Also have a 5 week update. I skipped the 4tg as I was super busy and did some defoliating :) Peace!!

Just wanted to show y'al my new lineup for my rooted clones I'm about to flower in the next 48 hours.....I'll give more details later
This is the exact setup I've been running for a while now. 24 plants total, 2L coke bottles in bottle trays that hold 8 plants each. I am on a 3 week cycle. I harvest 8 plants and put in 8 new rooted clones every 3 weeks, total flower cycle is exactly 63 days.

Some into in my 12/12 thread in my sig if you're interested.

do you run exhaust 24/7 for your flower? just curious how everyone else does their systems

I do, but often (especially in the winter months where temps are more maintainable) I crank my ventilation down to about 25% in lights-out, leaving just enough exhaust to keep slight negative pressure and air movement.

It's important that there is air exchange 24/7.

Ventilation is really important for indoor growing and that goes with installing exhaust too. Like this thread as it gives me more ideas about how to grow indoors. But what about in tropical weather? If the seeds I bought came from Europe. will it have problems growing in a tropical climate?

Fresh air is a must 24/7, plants do more work in the dark than we think. So you need ventilation all the time. Be it active or passive pull fresh air through all the time.

Hey everybody, just wanted to fish for opinions here. The girls are doing well but I don't think they're as developed as they should be. Maybe I'm just being impatient but it never hurts to ask. I'm at day 27 flower and the HG nutrient guide says I should be at 12ml in week 4 with a 10 week cycle or 14ml per gal with an 8 week. I have them at just over 15ml per gal right now with no change but I haven't pushed them at all during the grow and I don't want to push too much now when I'm not sure what damage I could do. I'm using 15ml a&b aquaflakes, 10ml per gal diamond nectar(humic acid), 3.8ml per gal bud-xl and 5 ml per gal Dyna gro pro-tekt. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

A few shots...

Got bored so I made a temporary mini dwc for my future dwc cali connections Girl Scout cookies using dutch master nutes. Hopefully they'll be ready to take some clones by January 2nd.

So she is filling in and has a massive amount of trichs already. I picked up some GH CALiMAGic last night to fix that leaf up front.

hey rubix, I can't really figure out what your problem is because the HPS lighting disguises the symptoms, try taking a pic in natural or florescent lighting to make it easier to see what's going on. Also, what type of medium are you using, and what are the NPK values on the HG nutes you are using?

also i really understand now how fresh air is important, and think it made a huge impact on my yield last grow. This one should go well i'm hoping with fresh air 24/7, and am eventually gonna build the box to stealth the sound and link together the veg and flower onto one fan.

thanks for the input people, I wish I hadn't made that mistake but whatever, thats how I'll learn i guess. Now i have an extra heavy duty digital timer! haha so i guess more work will be put into a larger veg cabinet, and the one i showed earlier will be my "clone/early veg" box, and the new big one will be my "mother/big plant box"
