Rubix try taking pics with the flash on your camera just before the lights come on/after they go off. Based on what you said I'm guessing overfert. That's an awful lot of Aqua Flakes. I wouldn't even run that full strength (or follow pretty much any nute company's feed chart) let alone past full.

I'm using pretty much straight perlite with about 2" of hydroton at the bottom in a 14 gal tote. The aquaflakes are .3 - 0 - .3(a) and .1 - .3 - .6 N-P-K. I just stopped using roots excelurator and I was gonna start using top shooter next week.

Hi everyone. I know I am high as shit. Trying to figure out how to private message people in some old posts. This is my 2nd time reading through all of this thread. Right now starting a Dr greenthumbs ECSD grow and a local CO dispensary bagseed bubblegum grow. Also have a Reserva Privada skywalker kush on the way and a few Fem seeds c99 also a few g13 pe. currently im running some coco/perl mix about 60/40 that is local to colorado apparently. no res in solo cups w/ hempy hole and some of them are kind of slow. rooted in the botanicare root plugs (cant remember exactly what theyre called) ph'ing water at ~~5.9 6ish with a dab of superthrive. is this normal? or do i need to check my runoff ph ec etc and correct? i know i probably sound stupid but i havent grown for 8+ years so i probably forgot more than i even knew to begin with..

edit: there is a res but its not pure perlite or anything. its the same uniform mix throughout, cuz its solo cups and i thought it would be easier to transplant more than perlite ( stupid probably after watching some videos), and because i heard coco wicks well and doesnt get oversaturated.. sounds like the perfect res to me. opinions would be appreciated..

hey rubix, seeing those new pictures , things look great. I can't see much of any deficiencies, and I can't really tell but it doesn't look too dark of a green, nice healthy plants there.

maybe the strain is what is so "slow"

but looking at everything it looks nicely spaced and evenly trained, great work!

If you feel like you've reached your threshold on the nutrients, you probably have. It's better to underdo it and not burn them than it is to overdo it and fuck them up, so just keep on keepin on brotha~!

I think its the plant. She's a touch darker than I'd like but she's still healthy looking. What is the EC of your runoff vs your feed?

Thanks nizza.
I'm not sure what you mean by ec MrED. Unless that just means the amount of water consumption. In that case I'm still not sure, I could definitely find out. I feed about 1-2 times a day depending on humidity I'll give them a heavy feed about an hour after lights on and maybe a light feed before lights off. It seems like they drink about 1 gal a day but the last time I flushed they both kept about 2-2.5 gal of the plain ph'd water. I have a completely recirculated system and there isn't much water that stays in the base of my 18 gal bottom tote/pot.

all EC is , is the electro conductivity. EC is multiplied by 500 or 700 (depending on how you set your pen) to give you PPM's (parts per million) . so EC and PPM are pretty much the same.
you want to avoid watering if possible right before the lights shut off

the pen is taking the TDS(total dissolved solids) and using that to generate EC, then using the 500 or 700 to make it to a PPM conversion

glad to help bro

EC lets you measure the concentration of your nutrient solution. If you see it rising you're feeding too much if its falling you need more. In a dtw hempy you measure the runoff EC and compare it to what you fed with, in a recirculating system you just measure your res EC.

Well if your in coco/perlite mix you will need to give them some food. The superthrive is ok but they need a little npk. Un-less this mix has some food in it.
Need to know the age for better advice.

Thanks Watt, yeah its just the superthrive in the mixture atm. i have the cns17 coco line and a couple other things like the calmag and liquid karma. they are around 5-7 days from sprout all around. the first one to sprout is starting its first node above the cotyledons(sp?). using 2 60w cfls to veg. so do you recommend adding some calmag and cns17 grow already? i heard the rapid rooters had a little bit of nutes in them but im not sure. also do you think that is too much light? each 60w cfl is supposed to be the equiv of approx ~ 300w incandescent. ive also heard of people using a pure coco res, never done anything in coco, so i was curious if my 60/40 mix is ok for the whole hempy or if you recommend a perlite or hydroton res? will try to post some pics here in a few minutes

thanks everyone

edit: using the 2 60w cfls to veg for now but my ballast is an adjustable 600-1000w mh/hps. was planning on switching over to the mh when they were mature enough.. this is my medium btw: http://elevationorganics.com/index.php/products/altitude but instead of the growstones its coco and perlite, 60/40. anyone ever use this before?

heres a few pics. the thermostat on the solo cups reads between 74 and 80 degrees and about 30-35% humidity with the lights that close. 2013-11-10 03.06.18.jpg2013-11-10 03.06.45.jpg2013-11-10 03.06.57.jpg2013-11-10 03.07.29.jpg
edit: sorry some of them are sideways.. any advice on how to fix that too? durrrrrrrrrrrrrr........

2nd edit: sorry if im being a total newb. if this isnt the thread for these types of questions, im sorry for taking up space.

Your CFL's will be good for a couple weeks, my last 2 plants each had a 23W CFL (100w equiv.) over them for 3 weeks before I put them under a 4-tube T5 fixture for the remaining veg. Your first 2 sprouts look a little stretched as if they didn't get enough light fast enough. I bring CFL's right down on the medium before they even sprout and keep a fan blowing on them. When mine pop up, they stop at 1" and start strengthening the stem. This also keeps a tight inter-nodal spacing during early veg making them much more "bushy". Looked up your medium and as a coco grower myself, I administer CalMag from day one at normal strength to start buffering the coco. I've found it pretty harmless to sprouts and cuttings. After 5 days has passed I start bringing in nutrients at a 1/4 strength and watch for anything bad, and by 7 days I'm at 1/2 strength, flushing the cup well to remove the 1/4 strength. When that cup starts looking dry, I start full strength. I always advise the "almost dry" before water method all through the grow. If you decide to keep the same medium in the res when you transplant to larger buckets, keep us informed on the success. I have played with a lot of mediums down there and my favorites lie in ones that don't eat up the water volume, allowing more liquid for longer watering intervals. Watering every other day sucks when you could water every third day...mixing nutrients to exactness being the painful part.
Happy growing and welcome back to the fun!

I agree with pretty much everything here..

I also use the CNS17 line and Calmag is not needed. Since using CNS17 I have yet to open the CalMag bottle, and those deficiencies are a thing of the past.

Also, I am using Coco with a Perlite Res, and have recently switched to watering every couple of days, which is nice, cause it really cut down on the Fungus Gnats, but I also noticed quite the reduction in Growth Performance. The Girls Look Great, Healthy, Green and Taking 950ppm (.5 scale),, but cutting back on the watering has really made a noticeable difference in the Grow. This is just what I am experiencing at the moment, and when this grow is complete, I will go back to my usual routine of daily watering to confirm my findings, but I did want to go ahead and throw this out there.

Keep Growin!!

Another update. I left my clones way too long in the cloner. It may be a good thing or bad thing. I'll find out soon. I finally was able to do some work and flip them them to 12/12. 32 "over do,"clones under a 600 watter. I did a test run with the light and with my mini split a/c it stays constant at 75ish with 40 humidity in a 4x4 secret jardin tent without the need to air cool the light. So I guess no need for dehumidifier. Also my medium is a mixture of 2/3rds perlite 1/3 vermiculite. Pics suck so I'll take some more in a couple of days from there shock. This is my first time running canna nutes and I may have to use less because my ppm was at 1130 from following the nute schedule but if there isn't no sign of deficiency I'll follow the canna nute schedule at full strength.

Thanks for the feedback jela. I will probably add some CalMag to my next batch and see what happens then. As far as the medium i will use in the res I guess it would be a good time to try to identify similar phenotypes and run them with the straight coco/perl res mix and a perlite res since 4 of the plants are the same strain.. I guess it would be a better experiment once I take clones though.
