World War III

plausable for sure. BUSH lit the fuse on a possible world war 3 when he decided to invade a foreign country with little to no justification behind it. Instead of focusing on the 911 terrorists that brought kaos to our nation, and bringing them ALL to justice. Bush decides to negate the fortitude of our own country and declare war with a country that did not act in a war mannor towards us. So yeah in my opinion many middle eastern countries are ready to lash out in the wake of what this idiot started.

you guys are missing the point.

the Professor's claim that the US was "threatening to extend NATO to the very borders of Russia", I have to say I don't is a very accurate picture of Russia's relationship to NATO post-Cold War. This was decidedly non-threatening behavior. Ever heard of the Russia-NATO Joint Council? The Joint Council, established ten years ago, gave the Russians a sort of quasi-NATO membership where they could have a say on security related issues that NATO discussed. This supposed "threatening" expansion of NATO was actually an attempt to bring Russia to the table as a partner of NATO!
I think in the concession to the Russians of a sphere of influence, which you've basically done, you revive a 19th Century monstrosity that I can't accept. Russia does not have any right to dominate Georgia or any of its former Soviet Republics or any of the former Warsaw Pact states. These are independent states with the right to make their own decisions. Russia's attempts to dominate these states is imperialism in its most egregious form and there is no place for any of it the modern world.

It has amazed me how since the invasion of Georgia the people who most loudly complain about American imperialism are the first ones to openly defend Russian rights to a "sphere of influence".

And there is zero chance an American or Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear facilities will instigate war with Russia. Anyone who says otherwise just doesn't get Russia's decision making process.

This is the typical ignorant bullshit spewed by most uninformed americans nowadays.

Bush did not go and decide to go to Afgan/Iraq on a whim, it was voted and approved by congress, and the justification of it was from Saddam's continual breach of treaties and his cease-fire agreements. You are very naive about why we went to Iraq, it was more than just WMDs, but the media does not like to talk about how he continually shot at American aircraft with SAM missiles. So yeah in my opinion your opinion is misguided and is a byproduct of the liberal media.

Zen is absolutely correct.

The MSM is in bed with the Democrat Party. They will do anything to discredit the Bush presidency including lie. There are way more pressing things affecting our country than the Iraq occupation, and yet, they are never mentioned. Among them are the constant erosion of our economic liberties at the hands of the socialists in both the Democrat and Republican parties.
