Worms?

Hey dudes. I'm a beginner grower and I remember knowing that earthworms produce beneficial wastes that serve as nutrition for any plant. Having such knowledge I was wondering if it is a good idea to incorperate worms into my growing procedures? Could they cause damage to the roots? I haven't read anything about them in my studying, so I was wondering if a few random cats knew the answer to these questions. Got anything?

just be careful how many you add 1 or 2 per gallon of soil

ok i put the worms in my soil yesterday about an inch downand covered them, the soil was moist, and this morning they were all on top of the soil dead so i dont think the whole worms thang works seems to me they die

Haha. Poor worms. Was the soil too acidic for them or something? Maybe the nutes in the soil killed them
