Worried about pot sizes & Root bound...

Hello, I've been basically worried sick over the size of pots I should use during flowering, unfortunately my space is limited and although two 5-gallon pots would be nice, I would only be able to use at a max of two 2.5-gallon pots, and at the moment I am using two 1-gallon pots, which would be nice to keep on using through flowering but I'm worried about root bound and messing with the flowering cycle. please let me know if it's alright to use a small pot while flowering, like I said I have limited space so large pots aren't an option :[ Thanks.

one rule of thumb is 1 gallon of soil for every foot of height
i use 2 gallon pots with organic soil, 2 - 2 1/2 foot plants grow out fine in those, usually an oz of bud per plant
