Would a 6 inch fan be overkill for a 4x4 tent?

I’m currently using a 4x4 tent with t5s and a led for veg until my timber comes in. I have a 6 inch max pro by can lite for a fan and was wondering if it would be too much for my size tent I plan on using it mainly for odor control and according to can lites page I could use their 6x24” filter on 1 for exhaust or 2 and 3 for recirculating. I haven’t been able to find much on the cfm of the fan on anything other than max speed. Also im wondering which would be best for odor control a slow scrub or high speed. I plan on the fan running into my bedroom instead of outside unless odor gets bad.

No. A 6" is generally good for a 4x4.
The cfm should be matched a certain way to provide the optimal odor removal. You can double check with company info or contact them to see about it.
Better slightly oversized and dimmable.

All I could find is that it is around 334 cfm. Your tent is around 100 cf. You should be gold on speed 1 or 2.

Which would you recommend for odor removal and quiet stealth? For a 4x4 tent...

Well-Known Member
The more 'expensive' (usually) brand names of filters with the right type and size/shape of carbon might do a better job in certain situations. But a cheap ol' vivosun filter might do you. Depends how concerned you are about smell. You'll have to judge that. If it's very important, get a good quality one (gonna have to look into that. Phresh, Mountain Air, Phat, etc.).

I haven't used infinity fans so I don't know if they're quiet or not. I like DC versions of inline fans though, they come with a controller and use little power.
If sound is gonna be an issue, you'll have to compare decible ratings and shit. Or buy an inline silencer. Or build a box to put your fan in. Or all of those.

Definitly... sound and smell is definitely something I have to get under control lol if not it could potentially be a problem... but thanks I will keep those name brands in mind and will look into them...

Never had smell issues with VivoSun
