Would be nice if we could force a refferendum on legalization.

Say 10 questions to be voted on by the general public on the topic of legalization.
what questions should we ask...so that the outcome of legalization is a rational
collection of idea's that will make things work without all the hype...and stigma being thrown around currently....
a legalization that is inclusive for all Canadians....not just wealthy ones...
just a thought

Governments like to avoid referendums, they cost money and never turn out how those in power want.

They went with Uncle Bill's 'consultation process' instead. Very effective as we were obviously taken very seriously and all of our reccomendations were followed. Oh wait....
One question on this phantom referendum would have to be about a program of tax breaks and interest-free loans for those wanting to become cannabis entrepreneurs.

I enquired on small farm start-up loans and small farm grants in BC. They were more than willing to talk with me, and offered help once cannabis was removed from the CDSA. They had no problem with "Plant Husbandry" qualifying for assistance. A business plan, some market research and viability on the farm was needed. The seemed enthusiastic about the innovation and opportunity to turn entrepenures into farmers.

Very encouraging. I think there should be similar opportunities for people looking to non-production cannabis businesses too. From edibles to innovative new products. The possibilities are endless, and there are many potential entrepreneurs with unique talents that would transition nicely from the bm into a legitimate business if they were given a chance.

Cannabis tourism is going to be big. Think of all the possibilities there. Other than liability for peoples injuries I'd say catering to those who would like some friendly cannabis fun is going to be possible. Just not sure what responsibility it would carry if folks were hurt from your supplying the cannabis. Lawyer stuff there.

just think about the Americans who come here smoke dope, then go home and get asked if they smoke pot while here

No doubt, I'm currently looking at 80acres farm with 6 rentable cabins on the river. Was a former farm to table all inclusive BnB, Plan is to create a self sufficient farm cartering to cannabis/outdoor enthusiast. The framework is in place just need to implement the cannabis aspect. Maybe "Resin Farms" will one day become a reality. Just gotta come up with a mil. $$$$$$$$ lol.

Yup resorts or events that are private can allow cannabis use on private property. All you need to be is cannabis friendly. And warn others that weed can used here. Look at all the events that include or revolve around alcohol.
It's an extensive subject for sure. Could be a small advantage or disadvantage to allow cannabis consumption at a resort say. Some will come so as not to be hassled...some won't come to avoid it.
Lot of possibilities though.
But if you encouraged cannabis use you'd also be responsible for safety I'd imagine. Could be a big insurance policy expense.
Might be easier and less costly to say we don't enforce a non use cannabis policy.

Trouble is what if one of those guest get seriously hurt on your property. they could say you encouraged cannabis use and therefore....blah blah blah......well ya now.
Now you have law suit issues and lawyer hassles. Just sayin. I wonder how'd that play out legally. just like with booze...you provided it or didn't discourage/patrol the use of it.......you are responsible somewhat....life sucks eh?
They are still considering it as an intoxicant so I say the rules would be the same...ruing a good thing again.
What do you think?

Should be no different than booze being served at bars, resorts or wine tasting rooms. A simple disclaimer at check in should be sufficient, liability insurance would be a must regarding any type of business that there could be a risk of injury, regardless of intoxicants being consumed.

See now I'd be interested in buying into something like this as long as I had my own space to live in....80 acres is a huge piece of dirt!...seriously.

The piece I'm looking at already has 2 homes, with zoning for 1 more and another for workers accommodations. Previously an organic farm to table operation, with on site sales zoning. Piece of heaven, just got to convince the wife to move out to the boonies, and become farmers.
