Would it be possible...?

To grow a small plant and not have to begin all over again after harvest? Im not exactly looking for a large harvest @ one time, but rather I want the plant to continuously bud. Kind of like having a plant where i could gather buds when needed for personal use. I was tired of depending on dealers so i got a card but now im tired of dealing with club prices and quality. It would be ideal to have a plant that produced the quality of buds i would like but without having to seed and grow over and over. I've never grown before and am gathering as much info as possible but its becoming a bit overwhelming with all the info JUST on this site. Any help and info is GREATLY appreciated and welcome. All the info i gathered is leading me to believe that after each harvest i will have to replant and wait the months it would take to bud. I'm hoping there is a way to avoid that. As i said before I'm not interested in a large harvest. Its just for personal use. I want to try my hand with one three foot plant to get experience. If my idea is possible then i plan to move on to three plants @ three feet in hight just so i could have diversity. The strains i was thinking of were Private Reserve OG, LA Confidential, and White Widow, or somthing with a sweet or fruity taste to replace the Widow. I haven't done any research on these strains so don't expect me to know more then that they are my favorite strains. I dont have alot of room this is going to be a closet experiment so also keep that in mind. bongsmilie

No continuous flower, that's why you must get clones. You'll have to figure out which plant you want for a mother and clone it.

Basically what you need is a Perpetual Harvest.

This is accomplished by keeping a mother plant and using clones from her to flower in a separate flower area.

As a cardholder what is your plant limit ? 12 ?

yeah man, youd basically need to have one flowering and some vegging at all times, what you are talking about is that magic money tree that parents are always going on about.

Im assuming i wont have to keep replanting the mother and father if i just keep them alive and healthy right? and i can get the clones from the seeds the mother produces but once harvest comes id have to replant and start anew.

So then the closest substitute for my idea would be some sort of rotating crop where the clones harvest @ different times (ie. one after another)?

So what you do is build 2 sections, a flower and a veg chamber.

Then you can keep 4 mother plants and flower 8 clones at a time. Or keep 2 big mothers and flower 10. Anything you choose.

You would harvest at least a QP every 2 months

Ya you just keep the Mother plant alive and you can take clones from her a few times. At any time you want you can replace her with one of the clone copies.

I keep a male with the mothers correct? Thats how they continue to produce seeds? Or would i need the male only if i were to replace one of the original mothers with a clone? Also do the mothers need to be all the same or could i use mothers of different strands? I don't want hybrids and i would think keeping the mothers of different strands together would do just that, but i want to be sure.

cloning is cutting a branch off the mother and planting it. you don't want seeds. you don't keep a male. that would be breeding not cloning.

You dont need to keep a male unless you want to do breeding. Making seed.

You could keep a few mothers of different types of strains and choose which ones to take clones from.

If you can buy clones from the club then you dont have to worry about seed at all.

You can buy 1 or 2 Clones of the strains you want and make them mother plants.

How do i choose the best branches to create clones, and how do i make a clone into a mother plant.

I know theres info on clones some-where on this site as well as a post on the lingo but i cant seem to find it again anyone point me in the right direction?

Any branch with more then 2 nodes is ready for cloning.

To make a clone into a mother you just put it in a big pot under 18 hours of light.

Xare you've been massive help thanks its much appreciated.

Before all this info i was planning on using one 100 watt hps light per plant, but only planned on having three plants in the given space. Any suggestions for 12 plants in a small space...anyone?

A Sea of Green aka SOG is best suited for a small space. You could flower 8 to 10 clones at once in a small 2'x2' area

Once you have a rooted clone they go directly into 12/12 flower with no veg time.

This keeps the plants small and you get about 1/2 - 3/4 ounce per plant. A bit more in hydro.

Maybe use one 250 Watt HPS light for flower, and some T5's for Veg

How can i tell when the clone has rooted?
How long do i keep the lighting 18/6 before i switch to 12/12 to flower.
Is that a 250watt per plant?

i have no idea what a t5 is but i thought you suggested to skip veg.

It takes 7-14 days for a clone to grow roots.

T5's are a type of Florescent Tube grow light. You will need 2 lights to do a Perpetual Harvest SOG grow.

One HID light for flower and T5's for veg.

In the veg chamber you keep the mother plants. The strong light is used to flower your clones.

Its done this way with 2 rooms that are separated because it cuts time off the grow.

Im deff going with cloning. Im just trying to figure out the types of lighting and ways of growing that would be best. Due to the small space i'm going to go with SOG. I figure i can start with two clones. Make one into a mother and grown the other to harvest. Once the mother grows i'll clone again to create a second mother and two more clones. Basicly repeat this process till i get to 4 mothers 8 clones. I would like to seed eventually tho just because i highly doubt i'll find any clones of the strains that i want to grow

You need to read the growing faq about cloning, or better yet just watch some of the videos on youtube. For example every video this guy has especially the "I grow chronic series":
http://www.youtube.com/user/rasstafarah

It doesn't matter if you grow soil and he shows hydro, the basics are the same and the way he shows cloning is the same. Watch every I grow chronic video in series, there are 10 parts.

Lastly what you want to do is grow ONE mother of each type of weed not four that's silly. Then you create a new clone every week and put a rooted clone in to flower each week. What you will end up with is one plant to harvest every week and a continual neverending supply of fresh bud. 8-12 plants is enough.

This takes a seperate veg area, just some flourescent tubes or cfl's are fine for that.

Depending on the size of your flower area I'd go with at minimum two 150w hps's, those econolights that are $20 ea complete with bulbs and ballasts will be fine.

I know that soundsd like a lot of work when you haven't done this stuff before but it isn't at all. We're talking 10 minutes max you can set aside on the same day every week. It'll take longer to clip the buds off one harvested plant than it will to take a cutting and put a rooted one into flowering. Takes me a minute or so, no longer than it takes me to water. You just commit to doing that little thing every sunday or whatever works best for you and that's the closest you can come to the harvest you're looking for.

HOLY SHIT ORGON i just spent the last hr an a half on you Utube watching those vids and im not even done. SUPER INFORMATIVE gave me great ideas but makes me wish i had the money and space to do it exactly like that Green dude. Im deff debating on tha hydro system over soil but seems more expensive. i like your new clone every weed suggestion too seems like it's a great substitute for my consistently harvesting plant dream.

Dood all you guys have been a tremendous help. I'm excited i found this site but more to get started.
