Hey at least hes still not trying to push that over priced garbage from chilled. Did buddy ever get back to you about the diodes??? I bet he didn't.

Yeah i like the coverage aspect of the bars and also being able to shorten the canopy gap a little as I am in a short tent. I am pretty sure I read a post by @Rocket Soul about it not being a good idea to run two smaller drivers because of the initial load when they turn on or something along those lines but I am not sure where. I am also not entirely sure how I would connect two drivers to the plugs on the a8 as it seems to be set up for a single driver. I do like the idea of having 640 rated watts vs 600 and also if one of them were to fail, i would still have some light and not be completely s.o.l. was my logic behind wanting to do it, just not sure that my logic is sound and hoping some of the experts will know. As far as I know they would all be the same diodes, meijiue ill swing for the 301h just because I am already skimping by going alibaba but the hlgs i believe run either bs or hs. From what I am reading it wont make a difference between b and h for my growing skill level. Maybe the super ultra master growers can tell but i am far from there
Running 2 drivers over the same timer might be problematic as it means double inruch current and it might blow your fuses.
As for wattage: tbh i think a 600w driver on a light for a 4x4 is probably too much and at least plenty. 480w is standard foor a 4x4. By all means if you think youll be doing a 5x5 later with the same light go for the 2 320s but ii see absolutely no point forr a 4x4

Single phase soft starters are fairly affordable if you want a little extra protection as well.

Thank you @rocket2000 there were only a handful of users whos answer to that question I was looking for and you were one of them. I will stick with the 600 and if anything down the road, this could always been my veg setup with and larger flower tent and more wattage. since I will be sticking with 600, what is your vote, meijiu bar or 600r? both units are within $20usd shipped

Sorry, its something you would have to decide yourself.
The way i see it the hlg550 styled board setup has a bit poor spread to sides and corners and also a lot of hanging height. If you have limited height you may not be able to use the full 600w on your plants without bleaching and overlighting. But HLG has proper aftersales service.
The meijiu bars: would be better spread but might be hard to raise and lower unless you have ok access to several sides of the tent or figuring out how to hang it on ropes or something. Also: its a china buy, youd need to deal with china for warranty stuff.

If you want a setup with good spread and HLG aftersales coverage id rec 6x qb96 engines on 2x meanwell xlg240-h-ab. If later on you feel you need more light you can allways add another 240 later. The qb96 is 69 $ each (but with 10% discount like 62) and the drivers around 45 each. Another 50 or so for wiring and some alu angle to hang it.

Adding to what Rocket said HLG also has the Scorpion 600 Rspec for $990 with the same code. This light has 6 QB's on it and solves the par issue for the corners. I will be purchasing this light very soon :blsmoke:
