would this work for a diy carbon filter?

hi riu, im looking to make a carbon filter for a small grow using pc fans, would this work and keep down the smell?

They are cheap carbon filter pads for a cooker.
UNIVERSAL CHARCOAL / CARBON COOKER HOOD FILTER

If i was to cut them to size and stick on fan, do you think that would keep the smell down?

Link doesnt work, but i guess it could work. It will definately cut off your overall CFM, so youll prolly need more exhaust. I too, "USED" PC fans, with great success for VEG. But, after lightproofing the intake and adding a filter, the fan just couldnt cut it. Look @ the homemade ones using smaller 4-6" duct boosters, great for our size grows.

Maybe you could sandwich a few nice layers of that in between 2 identical fans, ?
