It would be ok but there are better products available. I'd stick with Fox Farms.

Go with pro mix! They have an array of particular applications now and their prices have dropped dramatically! Try out http://www.greenhousemegastore.com/. they also have a host of other impressive stuff with great prices. I used Foxfarm for 5 grows and then went to a homemade version that worked well, but was a hassle, then I finally found an affordable Pro Mix vendor and I will never go back. I also Use Blue Mountain Organics, Cal/Mag, Hygromite, Molasses, Neem oil, and a kick ass 1000 watter. Oh yeah, Subcool and Shantibaba are my Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid!! Happy Growing!

Its way too easy to over-water young plants with promix, thats even with 30% perlite added to it. It retains too much moisture for my taste.
OP, if you go with that brand, you're gonna need to add some perlite because its going to retain too much moisture, but Id rather get FF if using soil. Its a bit more expensive, but you can find it for 12-13$ for 1.5 cubic feet if you dont mind paying shipping. Maybe you're even lucky and live next to a place that sells it cheaply.
