Would this work?

Hi I have a question about cloning and flowering!
I have a vegetative area that is about 2 feet tall. I do not know the sexs of my plants because they are only 15 days old but when they get to be the reasonable height i will take clones, then flower them in my flowering setup. so i am taking the risk of not knowing the sex before i flower them. My question is would that be okay to clone then put the mother(or father) plant into budding? and once i find out a plant is a male i can discard of the clone.
If this doesnt make sense let me know and ill try to re word it :)
thanks!

Yes you can take clones from the bottom branches and then flower the mother. Some plants will automatically go into flowering depending on the strain, but in most cases wont if you have above a 12 hour light cycle. If your dealing with minimal height and have a tall mother I would top it to cut down on the heighth. The other branches will still grow up there but not as much compared to if you just let the mother go.

taking a clone and putting it straight to flower isnt a good idea and prob wouldnt work UNLESS it has already rooted. You need 18-24 hours of light to get those roots going and healthy

Try covering a lower branch, blocking the light so it is in darkness for 12 hours. It will start to flower and you can determine the sex.

You CAN do that of course, so long as you label everything well so you know which cuttings were taken from which mother/father, lots of growers do it that way.

BUT the easier way is to simply take your cuttings from the mother as soon as she shows sex, up to 2/3 weeks into 12/12 is fine to take cuttings. First pre flowers/take your cuttings :-) This way you know you have females.
