  1. ok, so the idea is simple.....build a basic grow room but ground level and along the sides line the room with solar cells....the idea is to recycle energy....i cannot run a large light here without drawing attention ......would this help??? both large and small scale...i know it would to a degree with a few.....however im wondering if i could run like 1000watt off of 100 after all is said and done 1000 watt kickoff then supplemented by its own energy reducing the intake......i now they absorb fake light i ave done it..................but i need to know if it would work on practical scale for energy reduction......i can see it i just dk if you all get what i mean

I get your logic. It's not way out there.
I'm not sure if you'd hurt your yield by not reflecting the light back onto the plants though. PV panels aint exactly cheap, you'd need a decent bank of batteries and an inverter to convert from 12v up to 110 or 240v. ... Could get costly.

Just my musings. ...

^^ Not only that, you'd be getting very little return on your investment. The little residual light from a 1000 watt that's not on your canopy amounts to little luminous intensity by the time it get to the solar panels. Plus, you'd have to surround your plants in panels, which would probably interfere with the airflow they need. I'd imagine it would be more than a decade before you saw ROI, seems way more trouble than it's worth...

wouldn't you get more just reflecting it back rather than collecting it then re shining the light throw the panels then to the ballest ?

i think there's a fine line between perpetually driven inventions ...... Its diffecult to get out what you put in , if this makes sense.

but maybe a test with light meters etc etc and electric meters may tell different ... Idk?

i have thought more about this, what if i used 4 panels,i would lose relfection but the light would be way more intense...if i placed them around at the top of the room and have my reflective material....so the lights get the added reflection light + direct light going into the solar panels. here i made this very professional diagram

If you had have the panels, cables, regulator, batteries and inverter already it's worth a try.
If it was me, I'd use the power generated to run circulation fans and maybe extractiin rather than try and generate enough power to run the bulb though.

I run a camper van and a shop in a horsebox all on solar power and wouldn't expect to generate enough power from the sun to run 1k for long with the 180w of panel we use. It does cover us for led lights (not enough to grow with!) and constant charging of phones and tablets though.

Why not? I know someone that was living in a trailer that was paying more for power than me in a house with grow lights going I'm over them now but 2 600's and a 400 they where paying more. Also 1,000 watts ain't a huge jump and it won't help police get a search warrant or nothing the power company just wants their money.

But if your going to buy a solar panel use the sun not a grow light the sun has more lumens.

im already being watched because i was narked on and got fucked over, and i wanna do this more for people in low light/ cold areas and areas with higher energy cost, the idea is a mostly (<30% )
self sustained/energy wise box/room
