Would you get behind a fellow member if they started a business

Not just any business, but one that you needed, or wanted.

I.e., Gioua starts a Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Cookie service, would you be willing to throw in behind him? (Sorry Gioua, I just keep thinking about all those treats you've posted up in the wake-n-bake and random jibber jabber threads.)

How about a couple of, or group of users? Would that make you think more positively, or less positively about it, and would it make you more or less likely to seek out there particular service/offering? Of course it would also depend on the WHO. So, what would influence your decision there?

Well, thanks Sunni. You blew it for other stoners!

I would totally go to G's Cafe. Especially if he busted out the personal mugs!

I'm huge supporter of the local guys, farmers, orchards and vinyards so if one our own was starting out with something I would do what I could to help out, be it spreading the word or working the odd shift to cover sick days, I'd even play the mascot especially if it were a smoke & eat cafe....I'd be that one guy, who never leaves ;)

If I lived in a friendlier state, I'd reach out to some of the people here.

My experience has been the less people involved in a business the better.

depending upon the legality of it and the appropriate level of success attached to the idea i would be more than willing to help a member get something going off the ground, im always for the little guy!

Well we can all start by not going too...

Walmart, publix, target, almost all gas stations, and everything else im missing..

and start shopping at the local towns people.

But then again.. If everyone did that.. then the poor arabs at the corner store will become rich and powerful.
Wheres the balance?

I say fuck it and dim down our population..
and convert to a resource based economy.

That, specifically with MMJ involved, was a wild example (cuz I've got the munchies and an hour+ until dinner!)

I agree, about the small foundation. Been in a business venture where we had 5 partners, all equal interest, and all brought in because of their unique abilities in I.T., meetings would take forever, work didn't get done, and no one could be held accountable. On top of that stupid and simple decisions because long drawn out prospects. An easier way: Scout talent, and require that they provide their piece as their "start up fund" and value it, based on a reasonable market value.

I asked because I'm starting a business, hopefully, in the very near future. One that will be legal, and will offer a service that almost everyone needs these days, and with features that could uniquely benefit the growing grow community.

I, of course, wouldn't be the power behind the button, as it were... But, I don want a solid gauge of how people would feel about supporting other's ventures, and what criteria would be looked at, as far as trustworthiness, accountability, etc., prior to the people here accepting a fellow member as a business contact. Major hthings that need to be taken into consideration. I'm not sociable, and neither are most of the people that I'd need to tap for experience, but others are. And, that's how "grass roots" gets started. LoL, so ... I used the example of the Big G CannaCookie and Treats Cafe as an example.

It depends, I'd have to know I'm dealing with a responsible person on the business aspect of things. After that like above stated, if you can make something out of nothing, well heck I'm all about that!

And, what would make the person responsible?
LLC? C Corp., with backers, shares, and patent due-diligence? What about trade secret filings, and exclusive source filings.

I come from the high-end of the computer security world. Being what I am and what I was (A genius that got bored easily) I've written and documented some pretty interesting projects. With the spread of MMJ, our community has a reason to reach out, and set exclusive, unbreakable connections. Connections that die with the compromise of a system. We all need better security, be it wandering around and using public WIFI with your IPad or Android or (theoretically, one has sold by now) your Windows tablet, or sitting at home, watching TV, and surfing RIU, ... I could go on.

And, as we legalize, fully automated grows, based on YOUR programming, and under YOUR control, would be awesome. Well, it's possible, and it can be controlled as a subset of the other...

So, what qualifies as "responsible?" And, how do you judge it? Community affirmation? Bullshit points, solid plans and proof of concept, incorporation to step out as a legitimate (and liable) entity?

I'm curious, because I'm working on doing just what I'm proposing. And, I want to know what type of support I'd get in this community.

Depending on the business plan, I would get behind a fellow RIU'er. I've recently started breeding, and I would love to have someone join me who knows more than me. And I can list off about 20 people on RIU who I think are better at this than me and I would be able to draw from. And conversely, I know a lot about business and technology, so if someone had a good plan, I might be able to assist.

Heh, we should chat. I've already written software on Rasberry Pi's for light automation and gyro control automation, for nutrient/ph distribution. Not complete by any means, but there is enough information out there to get this project complete. In fact, I believe there are a couple of University projects that do have full open source full automated grow systems.

Seriously, oatmeal?

That has to be the worst cookie. Oh, you put raisins in it? Oh, well, that changes everything.
The best oatmeal cookie I ever had is not as good as a fair to middling chocolate chip cookie.

I'd throw my support behind people here because you are all my stoner brethren (except for you dumb racist assholes that think minorities took yur jobs, learn some skills redneck dipshits) but not for something as dumb as oatmeal cookies.

It would all depend on circumstance, and who it was.
I mean, who would back Fin and all of his nonsense?

That being said, if the business plan, location, type of business etc. all were logical and well thought out, then chances are, yeah I'd back a fellow RIUer.
