Would you smoke these buds? how about for you patients?

Hi there, first of all I will not sell this pot to my patient I am only wanting to know what you guys think.

2 days ago I found bud rot in the main cola of my God's Lemon Skunk (I had not been monitoring my humidity for a while and it would spike to 60 at night) ...it could also be genetic the bud was really thick dense and resinous. Is it always related to the environment or some people strains will often get it regardless?


Ok so I chopped that bud actually lower than what you see on the pics, like 2 nugs below. The plant was in the room an extra 2 days then tonight I decided that I had had enough of her.

I included loads of pics, would you guys smoke these buds and are they safe to smoke?

I am inquiring because I am parano that the fungi was actually all over the plant , the orange hairs were falling off more than the usual and kind of soft .. hehe not sure just being grossed out by the bud rot I had never seen anything like it. And also the main cola and nugs close by went in the trash.

on picture 11 out of 14 you can sort of see what I mean with the orange hairs looking not normal maybe?

so you wouldnt smoke the rest of the plant...? if the buds arent good to smoke the hash wont be good for me... I want to know if it's good or no good.

Give it a water/h202 soak for about 5 min and dry it out!

Sounds like you want a guarantee .... Just not worth the risk... But do what you want :/

Salvage what you can, and.... well, you decide the rest. If it smells like "what the hell " .. might have to toss it out.

bud rots starts from the stems though and works its way out doesnt? because the buds are looking ok from underneath just still not sure about them hehe...

[h=4]How To Spot Bud Rot[/h]Look for random dead or dying leaves stemming from the middle of buds (usually larger buds). Remove any dead leaves and inspect where the leaf was removed. If a brown or grey fuzz is observed, remove immediately. Botrytis turns the buds to mush from the inside out and can sometimes be hard to notice until after it is too late. I suggest examining the large buds of your medical marijuana plants every day by not only looking at them but also squeezing and touching. There is a very noticeable difference in the way an infected bud feels.


reading this makes me feel like bud rot will not start from the outside of the buds like it would only start from the inside, therefore, if my buds are nice and dense , they should be ok?

it trash or hash it if there is fuzz( means spores) on the mold.(catching the mold at point of just discoloration is key.)

or cut away the badly infected parts and do a quick rinse in h2o2 or water cure so spore germinate and die.

bud rot starts inside as a brown color then develops fuzz, i would cut a bud in hald if you are questioning yourself. if its on the outside it could be some form of mildew. once starts with discoloration either black or dark brown usually, then it will form a much less noticeable fuzz to spread spores.

I am wondering if the rest of the plant is ok to smoke, I included lots of pictures, so you say if I dont see anything at all there is nothing? like the mold will not be invisible?

You could make hash or you could water cure it, which is what I would do personally - maybe adding a good slug of Hydrogen Peroxide to the water to kill off the spores.

its a matter of opinion. from a health standpoint like say a hospital, no its not safe for patients.... would i smoke it? maybe depends on what i thought of the spreading mold and if there was a lot. in your case, without water cure or h202 wash no, probably not.

is it safe to sell to a friend as medicine? no, i would still water cure or h2o2 wash and give a discounted rate and probably explain, still better than some of the pesticide shit that goes on with both highgrade and that mexican shit out there.

how about the other plant that is younger that was growing in the same container? she looks fine but she has 30 days to go!!

I would suggest the following:

1) Buy dehumidifier - self explanatory
2) If you been foliar feeding or spraying, stop now
3) Add an extra fan or two for more fresh air
4) It might be tempting to have a massive cola to show off but if you got potential bud rot problem, cut that bitch down

Other than that, you got yourself a waiting game - hopefully no funky monkey spores contaminated the other plant. Good luck and don't take a loss of a plant or two so personally.

properly inspect. some will be salvagable I'm sure.

rinse her down good make sure she get a good dry and fast afterwards and do this a couple times shes clean, you main issue is you need more air in the cab.
