Would you use a hood with a light mover?

I'm planning on screen training my plants and running a 1000w light mover about 18-24" above them (if its too hot I'll move it higher)

I think since the light is moving, light burn will be much less of an issue, and to keep the room cool I could just use an exhaust fan without ducting. The lack of ducting would make it much easier to use the light rail.

Do you guys think that I could do ok without using a hood in this setup?

You are absolutely right. The light mover would prevent alot of the heat stress and burn on the plants, but heat would still be an issue, and effect your overall yield. If your budget is an issue, then improvise as best as possible, but as soon as you can afford to, get the ducting and blower hooked up and aircool that light. Keeping temps between the light and the plants around 72 degrees is what is going to help you get those plants to yield to their maximum potential. The light mover is a great idea, i have one myself, but the smart investment would be air cooling and ventilation. Thats priority #1.

Hope that helped a bit
