WTF, my MH bulb just burned out on its first day!

either it wasnt new, it didnt burn out and your wiring, voltage, or ballast are wrong, or you have the wrong wattage ballast for your light. what did you see happen that makes you say it burned out and just wont fire? if it did burn out first day, take it back to the store in the box with receipt, theres no way they wont swap it out

It was a package deal from ipowergrowlight... was working a good six hours and then i adjusted my timer clock. It turned off like it should have, but then it didn't turn back on. I adjusted the bulb with a cloth so I didn't get any oils on it, then tried it again. It started to flicker and then a red cherry appeared inside the bulb... tried a couple more times after adjusting and nothing. I am more than pissed right now. I contacted the company and am waiting on their reply.

not saying it wasnt a bad bulb.. but you always want to let the bulb cool for 15 mins or so before letting it fire again .. hot fires kill bulbs

This is pretty much how learning to grow goes LOL .. your like shit .. if I only knew that before .. I still do that to this day


Good luck .. the bulb may have still been defective.. I would still try to get a free replacement .. dont tell em you cycled it :) Good luck on the grow as well :)

Yep, you never wanna do a Hot strike, wait atleast 15-20 mins for the bulb to cool before refire. You will extend the life of the bulb by a whole lot, trust me.
