They're just starting to teach classes in school where kids learn different viewpoints in online news and social media. They're learning how to tell the difference between an ad and a review. I hope IRA bots are added to the curriculum.
For now, the internet is full of people who don't understand the difference between "research" and "algorithmic feeds".
I'd like to think it'll get better. The internet and its attendant mis/disinformation is entrenching tribalism for now. As long as we survive the learning curve, I do think it will improve.
In the meantime, my general advice is this: someone else is the hero of the story you're in, you are not some special person with access to information no one else has, and quit getting so worked up over something some random stranger says on the internet.
