Xanax, how long does it stay in your system?

Not a big user, however I have pretty bad anxiety & take it when I need it. Due to some personal stuff (medical) going on I took 8mg(not at once) on Wednesday, 5 around 4pm & 3 at 10pm if I had to guess. I get drug tested on Monday morning. I know, not very smart at all but I wasn't trying to go to the ER again. The doc who is testing me uses this cup where he just read the label on the front it and puts some sort of stick in it. Takes like 30 seconds and then he tosses it, it's a cheap test that's all I know, he has a drawer full. Anyways, will four days be enough for my system to clear out? I'm curious if any of you are on/or taken Xanax and had to take a drug test or if you have any knowledge in this area. I've read other forums & it seems like for most it takes 1-5 days depending on how often you've taken it, the mg, your weight, etc.

More than likely positive with only four days.. Benzodiazepines hang around longer than opiates (1-3 days in urine ) benzodiazepines can stay 2-3 weeks in some....frequency....

im confused, why are they going to care if you took xanax?
is it not your prescription i assume right?

if you have anxiety you need a doctor to prescribe you some actual medicine along with a counselling sessions for breathing methods and coping mechanisms , they have build up anti anxiety drugs that work much better than xanax. xanax is a band aid solution with a high probability for addiction , self medication and misuse especially in people with anxiety disorders. people with anxiety disorders are much more like to self medicate with drugs and alcohol and become addicted to them.

Serum half life for alprazolam is 11 hours.

8 MG is 4 in 11 hours.

4 is 2 in 22 hours

2 is 1 in 33 hrs

1 is .5 in 44 hrs

. 5 is . 25 in 55 hrs

Figure 77 hrs. Or more.

Correct, cocaine is about three days for metabolites a few hours for the original drug.
Xanax is a short acting one.

Clinazapam, Valium and the like have ten to fifteen hour half lives, which means even if you skip a few days you are adding incrementally to your body load.
And their metabolites have long half lives as well.

One of the ways to ween off of Xanax is to use Valium because the dosage spikes are smoother.

One gradually reduces the dosage while the body gradually excretes the difference.
