XXXL Magnum good or bad?

Ive heard mixed reviews on hood size, I have an 8x8' room and am thinking about putting two 1000w XXXL magnum hoods that measure 32.4" long, 26.5" long, 9.8' tall> two of these would give my room great coverage but I have been told that hoods that big distribute light to far around taking away too much intensity of the light going down. So whats better? Wider coverage or smaller hoods with more concentrated focus?

Yeah If you grow that full room size then 4 lights should be used as the 1000 watters cover a solid 4x4 area each so in line that 4x8 with a bit of overlap but that only have the room size.

Nobody answered his question, lol. I can't advise you on those hoods. I currently use Blockbuster hoods for my 1ks. I am buying 8 magnum xxxls tomorrow and plan on pushing the 5x5 foot print. Blockbusters are perfect for 4x4.

I have cool tubes and something similar to your magnumxxl. I cant say theres much of a noticeable difference. the hood directs the lights down. don't grow on the ceiling. the tubes are more open...

A review of the XXXL suggests that the large size gives shit reflection. you'd be better off with a smaller air cooled hood, you'll get much better light dispersion.

i have 2 of these hoods, but only use them at 600watts,
any hood/tube that has glass diminishes yield, i know this first hand.
cool tubes are garbage, i swapped 3x 600w tubes for 2x magnum xxl, and the xxl blew the tubes out of the water.
my space is 4x8ft by 6ft high, (1.2x2.4x2m tent)
if you can get away with it try using with out glass, i do until summer.
for the last 3 yrs i have always had roughly same average, 4 weeks veg, 24hr on, 8 week flower 12on
and average 4oz dry per plant, i take a small hit in summer because of the glass.
i also change bulbs every cycle and run ballast on super constantly.

I ran Raptor 8s and since they didn't have hinged glass, they were very hard to clean and not the easiest for bulb change. Sold them and I now I have XXXL 8s and they are hook hinged and have a fail safe cable so it doesn't swing all the way down when you open it to change bulbs, clean glass, etc. Then they have nice, twist screw to ensure a full seal of the glass and a flared rim on the air vents so your ducting won't accidentally slip off when zip tied properly. I am a fan.

The xxxl hood spreads the light out alot. It puts lights all over. You need to look into more of a squared off reflector such as blockbuster as the light still spreads but goes more downward then outward. I have ran xxxl and blockbusters both 8 inch. I gave my xxxl to a buddy for his micro green business and I stuck w blockbusters. 1 xxxl covers roughly the same space as 2 block buster but the intensity is less due to the huge coverage

No two grows are identical. It depends on what you are trying to achieve. They are both good reflectors and searches of forums and YouTube will show that both work very well depending on specific setups. I prefer a better spread for the types of grows I do. With 1000 watt bulbs, their reach is much stronger than a 400w or 600w. There is no black and white when it comes to reflectors.

all I run is 1000s and forbhis size room xxxls are to big to much spread for a grow w multi lights.

I totally agree. The gear that you HAVE will always out perform the gear you don't have! Make what you have work and when buying new do some research.
