Dear Jesus man, can you not just buy a socket with a plug attached to it?! Why didn't your breaker trip or a fuse blow btw?
Cause he shit his pants as it blew up in his hand and jerked it faster than the circuit could trip.

Canna- It says 250v cause thats how much it can handle, if the bulb is 120 and you give it 120, it will light.

Yeah it hasn't got a transformer except the ballast I the bulb do the socket is just a junction between the bulb and the wall.

Shouldn't the breaker trip faster than the electricity is drawn tho?

breakers (most) have a built in delay for stuff like that ..... it will hold the load for a half second longer , which gave him time to drop the cord an clean the mess outta his backside area.

it looks like all he did was bump the plug against the outlet , burning up one of the prongs. the plug and the lamp holder will still work but it just aint worth it.

i HIGHLY recommend waiting for silver's step by step on this huge project !

there is just too much kush around liar , your gonna have to slow down long enough to get this cfl wired up. :joint:

Well first id like to thank silver, and everybody at RIU.
2nd, its put together properly now, but the light wont work :(
I had to use an adapter . cause the 60 w cfl is to big for a normal light socket. but the light isnt turning on. ughhh
A watt reader, turned red, so the light is working. idk whats wrong

It isnt put together properly or it would work. (bulb bad maybe?)

there is nothing to go bad ... its only wires an connections an you can see all of them.

Most likely you switched the neutral and the power wires making an instant short circuit. Theres a reason we electricians make good money, because if you dont know what you're doing you can burn your house down, or worse, die

Well i got an electrian to put it together (after the boom) and he tested it with a Thing a little wider than a pencil . It was a meter or idk,
and it turned red. so he said it has power.
So thats y im confused y the set up isnt working
(if u mix the neutral and other, it wouldnt even make the red light come on would it? and it would just BOOM again. but now it plugs in fine and red light is on the stick thing

Well, now it could be properly wired up but a bad unit because you already fried it. You turned your breaker back on right, for the recepticle you will be pluging into?

The red light thingie is a continuity tester. Inexpensive, and good to have around. Might want to test the socket (central button "hot", surround "neutral") with the switch on. (Wear non-conductive gloves.) If that gives glow, suspect the bulb. cn

Well in case anyone needs the write up here it is.

This is the kit.

Feed the wires through the threaded sleeve, then the socket cap. The sleeve threads into the cap. Then tie off the wires for support.
11180909.jpg11180910.jpg11180911.jpg

Loosen the screws on the light socket and attach the wires, it doesn't matter which wire goes where. Next slide the socket shell over the socket.

Last, snap the socket shell and the socket cap together. Tada! you have light!
