Yeild/CFL Lights

Hey im growing with cfl bulbs, i want to hear from everybody else who has grown'd before with cfl on vegg n flower,tell me how yall did and how much yield per plant. How far where they from the plant, how many bulbs, what strain.
I currently got 1 Bubblicious fem plant under 2 cfl daylight bulbs 5000k 100 watt each.

I've completed two grows using CFL bulbs, and am currrently a couple weeks into my third CFL grow.

I use two 125W 6400K Ecolites for vegging, and two 125W 2700K for flowering. My last two grows have been two plants under that lighting, which I have found to be sufficient for a decent yield. I'm guestimating here, but I think I've pulled about 2 Oz per plant from each grow (4 Oz total per grow), give or take..

The beauty of CFLs is that they don't heat up nearly as much as MH or HPS, so my plants grow to within a couple inches of the bulbs themselves. The rule of thumb is to place your hand under the bulb (palm facing down) and move your hand closer and closer to the bulb. If the top of your hand isn't burning when it's within an inch or two from the bulb, that is the same distance you can leave between the plant and the bulb safely with out burning the leaves/buds.

Any reason why you're using 5000K and not 6400K for vegging?

Thanks for coming to my forum and posting. Wow thats good 2 oz per plant i hope to get atleast an ounce and a half with this plant i got. Reason why im using 5000k due to the fact that home depot didnt have 6500k. How long u vegg for and what nutes you using? Im feeding my girls jacks classic,fed it only twice,they are 8weeks old. Not growing how its suppost to so im going to give it a flush soon. How many bulbs u used per plant in flower?

Hey devin, well i forgot to mention i got 1 lamp with a 5000k 100watt bulb.

a good rule of thumb, on growing...i go by the 100 watts per plant rule. well used to. i am trying a 32 oz. cup grow...lol so i have more plants cramed in my tight area.

Is this aimed at me? You doubt I got 2 Oz per plant? So the suggestion is that I'm lying to make myself look impressive on an anonymous forum? Ok, guy..

I haven't weighed either of my crops, but I smoke about a quarter a week, and both my crops lasted me between 3 and 4 months. I also gave away a handful of bud to a couple friends, so do the math.. It isn't an exact science, but if I didn't harvest 4 Oz, it must've been pretty close to that amount. I use 2 125 W CFL envirolites, and have carefully managed both grows.

Believe me or don't believe me, I really couldn't give a fuck, but it is poor manners to accuse someone of posting mis-truths.


Kid, to answer your questions, I vegged both grows for quite a while - about 6 weeks each time. That seems like a long veg period, but I just kept looking at the plants and figured they could benefit from a little longer under 18/6. I have a hydroponic setup, starting with a drip feeder, then moving to a DWC system. I use Vitalink Max hydro nutrients, but this time I'm thinking of getting some advanced Bloom nutes to use during flowering. I'm only growing 1 plant this time under a ScrOG, so I'd like to beef up the buds as much as possible.

I used 2 x 125 W 2700K envirolites during flower. I love those bulbs. Check my sig for a link to pictures of my setup (that was my first grow).

Good luck on your grow, and don't listen to negative comments about needing more bulbs or more of anything for that matter unless it's constructive criticism. 200W worth of CFL is sufficient for one plant if you LST it so allow the light to be dispersed over as much of the plant as possible.

EDIT: I just reread your post - 100W for vegging is probably sufficient, but you might want to get some extra lighting during flower. A single CFL bulb won't reach many of the bud sites, so you might just end up with one big cola on the main stem, and a bunch of popcorn buds around the rest of the plant. Can you post some pics of your setup?

hey guys ive got about 125w in my box my plants get about 1'1/2 before i chop and i get about 3/4 ounce after fimming/lsting. just saw in a previous post a guy used a power bar and bought a bunch of these plug to socket adaptors i had never seen before, rockin 5 lights in his little pc box growing chubby little babes. not saying anything about needing more light, i should know, keep at 'er and have fun, peace.

9 42 watt bulbs pulled 102 g off 3 last grow, started veg with 4 6500k ,added 2 more at week 3 2700 k 2 26 watt 6500k for side lighting at week 5 1/2 switched to 12/12 and changed to 7 42 watts 2700k 2 42 6500k 378 total watts

If one was to have two cfl up top for veggin' / flowering....would it also help the yield if normal fluorescent tubes were installed vertically around the plants also ? thanks

yes cowboy...any more lighting that you can add with those cfl's will help.
