So this is my first time growing. My strain - bagweed, lol. (but what's wrong with that?) i'm on here everyday researching as much as possible and these sexy females are what i have to show for it.

out of 28 original plants, 20 were female
- which brings up another question, anything smart or creative i can use the males for? i kept one in veg cause i'm moving soon, and i want a whole bunch of seed to start up again.....

anyway, i have 12 females in my high tech flower room made from....closet, lol i made a scrog out of some hemp twine (figured that be more relevant than normal string) and i did that super cropping thing that some of you vets are probably all to familiar with. it scared me at first snapping my plants in half, but shoot, it's working wonders.

ANYWAY, my biggest concern.. why are my plants so damn thin. I know i mest up at the begging with my lights being to high so they grew hella tall, but
-is there more to it than that??
-should i cut out all the branches undernieth like a S.O.G. set-up?
-do you think if i use the bottom branches for clones will they grow??

well, just curious, any help is great.

um

oh yeah, how come i haven't heard anyone ask about using those 500w construction halogen lamps? i have 3 of them, so 1,500w - only problem, they get hot as hell so thats why i have tall plants cause i had to keep them high, and lots of ventalation.

ok i'm done, thanks

first pic = mothers, the rest have had three nights in flower

u should get some clones just to start awhile than just have the lights closer at first and it will branch a lot more

o and halogens arent the best light bulbs to use....get cfl's or a hps

Yeah i think youll need some new lights for sure, those are scragly looking, a obvious sign of not enough light power, or lumens getting to them. Youd be better off with the cheap cfls.

alright, i took my pair of clf's that were over my mothers and moved them to my flower room, they only cover a portion of the plants so i'm gonna have to buy more.

why are the clf's better when those halogens are bright as hell! way brighter than the clf's?

so now i got a mixture, two(2) 500w halogens up high, and my 40w clf's right on the plants and one(1) 500w hanging over my mothers which will in turn stretch them out. God i just can't win

i wish i was rich and could afford expensive light!

This is the reason halogens are not suitable for growing!
Maybe you can sell the halogens and get one 400W HPS.
It will make a huge difference!

Good Luck.

i got a 150w halogen work light for christmas for mechanic type reasons... although its bright as stink it's the wrong kind of light and puts off SO MUCH HEAT!, i can literally burn my hand on that thing.

hehe... go CFL's or HPS for sure.

get those halogen lights out of there.....they are doing just about nothing for you, at 1500 watts you should have a crazy ass grow.....you are wasting electricity big time...here is a bloom room with 2 1000 watts to compare with bro.......see...the difference, granted theses plants are 3 weeks into bloom..but the 6 on the far left are only 5 days in....still it shows how much more you can do with that much electricity......your grow is tiny for that kind of power, get the right lighting and you'll have a nice grow, if you can afford to run that much juice....
