yellowing and browing of leaves

hey I recently started growing in my closet its not a very large space and i am using a 400 watt HPS light. The plants are ranging from 7 inches to about a foot and started off well. It started with the lower leaves burning at the tip and curling upwards. Now it has spread to the upper and mid leaves they are yellowing and brown around the edges. I have included a picture of the leaves as i dont have a camera I had to just scan two of the dead leave ahaha. I'm trying to narrow it down what the issue could be. My ph levels are about 7.0, does this look like a nutrient deficiency or nutrient toxcity. Any suggestions would be very appreciated

thanks:)

it's growing in soil and i've heard anything between 6-7 would be okay, But you're right i was just considering buying some PH down and seeing if theres a change. Also I dont have very good ventilation could that be a factor?

you shuld try flushing the plant, i could be ventilation but what nutes are you using and how old r the plants

how do i go about flushing the plant out? they're in pretty small pots right now about 3inches should i maybe transplant them into larger pots? I'm using nutrients from a local hydroponic store, its their own brand. and I've had the plants for about a week and half i got them as clones

clones can be tricky , flushing is applying enough water to push all of the bad nutriunts or excessives to the bottom and out ussually 2 times the amount of the pot volume. how often do you water?

oh okay, is their any harm in flushing if i dont need to get rid of nutrients. I've been watering about once a day, once every two days to start but the plants under the 400w hps in my small closet seem to heat up a lot and dry out the soil I had to water twice today because they were dryed up after about 6-7 hours

Dude, i'd transplant. The pots need to be just over one gallon to one foot of plant height. Rootbound plants need to be waterd and fed at closer intervals 'cause the plant's need for water and nutes is greater than the soil(medium) can provide, or store.

The leaves look like there is a def in either P or K. This could be due to PH but I dont belive this is the case here. Clones will tend to need more nutes than seeds do. Also the advise above that 1gallon of soil per foot of growth is a good rule of thumb. If I were you I would transplant into 3-5 gallon pots. The soil you transplant into should have some nutrients. Many people on this site recomend FoxFarms Ocean Forest it can be found at most grow shops. I have used supersoil potting mix and peralite from the local home and garden center with little problems. I am no expert by any means but the leaves look similar to what happened to my plants before. Do you know the N P K of the nutes you are using?

just got back from the store, picked up one gallon pots, they'll have to do for now. I alos bought mineral water so i'll be using that from now on. As for my nutes, I'm using some from a local hydroponics store its their own brand. But maybe they're not hte right ones because, the grow formual is 2-0-2. 20% Nitrogen, 2.0% soluable potash, 2.4% calcium and o.168% iron. To me that just doesn't sound right. I think i should change nutes, what do you recommend?

k great thanks a lot, I also just bought a thermostat and i see another large problem my temp is running at 84 F i realize this is extremely high, but my grow space is very small and i have 2 4 inch fans running this leaves basically no space. Any idea how i could reduce temperature besides obviously changing grow areas

I AM NOT SURE THE BEST WAY TO REMOVE THE HEAT. MY ROOM IS OFTEN AROUND 80 AND I HAVE NOT HAD TOO MANY PROBLEMS. MY PROBLEMS HAVE SHOWN UP CLOSER TO 90 RANGE. IF YOU DONT HAVE A FAN THAT EXHAUSTS THE HOT AIR OUT THEN YOU SHOULD GET ONE. MOST OF THE HEAT IS NEAR THE TOP OF THE ROOM SO MOVING THAT AIR OUT OF THE ROOM WILL HELLP WITH THE HEAT. A SHORT TERM FIX WOULD BE TO ADD FROZEN WATER BOTTELS TO THE GROW ROOM. THIS HAS BEEN PROVEN TO LOWER THE TEMPS A FEW DEGREES IN SMALL SPACES. IF THE INTAKE IS GATTING AIR FROM A ROOM INSIDE THE HOUSE THEN YOU COULD LOWER THE TEMPS IN THE HOUSE TO HELP. THESE ARE A FEW IDEAS FRO YOUR TEMP ISSUE. NOW FOR THE NUTES. IT SEEMS LIKE THE GROW AND FLOWER NUTES NEED TO BE USED TOGETHER TO GET THE RIGHT NUTES TO THE PLANTS. MIX THEM AT MAYBE A 2:1 RATIO GROW: FLOWER THIS SHOULD HELP WITH THE NUTE DEF. I HAVE TRIED USING MINERAL WATER AND ENDED UP WITH PROBLEMS. THE WATER i WAS GETTING WAS AT ABOUT 7.2 TO 7.4PH. I HAVE NOT HAD TO ADD ANYTHING TO ADJUST THE PH OF MY TAP WATER. I JUST LET IT SET FOR 24 HOURS WITH AN AIRSTONE IN IT.
