Hey guys,

I'm currently struggling through my second grow :wall:, and I'm coming up on the same problem I had last time...
I have four (bagseed) plants in one 10 gallon dwc setup which are about 3 weeks into flower.

Temps vary from 74F to 80F and humidity is around 40%

I'm using Botanicare pure blend pro with tap water (it's most likely fairly hard, i've only checked my cities website, not tested first hand)

Noticed this problem about a week ago and after hours of research my best guess was nute burn (since I can be pretty sloppy when measuring my nutes due to a bad grow setup) so I rinsed out the res and started flushing with tap water (and bought more precise measuring instruments).

I have currently been flushing for a couple days now and nothing is looking better, which is making me start to think I have a deficiency.. Possibly P?

I wish I had money to spend on a ppm meter and all of that good stuff but unfortunately funds are tight. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It looks 70% okay to me. The leaves always start to yellow during the end. It looks like they may have been shocked. When did you put up that black mesh?

Try soil...
But check the quality of your solution? maybe make a fresh batch. I hear adding a lemon to your water will bring the PH down.

If money is tight, do soil. Soil is too easy, and really cheap, too. Hydro is something best done once you can afford the proper meters and other equipment.

Only 3 weeks into flower, those leaves shouldnt be that yellow and dried up...definitely not normal in my book.

No way is that normal. Shes is fried. Flushing is NOT a miracle fixer for nute burn. Once burnt, your burnt and there is no coming back from that. Yellow leaves can be fixed. Brown, or bronze and they are DEAD. Gone forever. With that being said, its always better to under feed then over feed. Working with hard water is tough but possible. My suggestion to you would be run 1/4-1/2 strength nutes next time. High ppm/excessive nutes does not mean big buds. Its all about environment and strain, not ppm. If the nutes are there and ph is correct then they are available to the plant. You cant put a excessive amount and expect the plant to take it up and grow larger. She will only take what she wants. Trust me man, I learned the hard way also. Oh and I just saw your in dwc omg those nutes are always available to the plant anything over 1200ppm in dwc is ABSURD! Honestly 1000ppm is a good MAX for hydro and will not deprive your plants. If anyone wants to argue with that first post a picture of the large buds your high ppm grew because I would bet my low ppm buds are larger. Oh and fyi most nute companys high flower dose on bottles put you anywhere from 1500-1800ppm which would burn most plants in dwc but with hard water your really asking for trouble. Thats probably abound the 2k ppm range. Also running dwc w/o meters is asking for trouble. Just my 2 cents.

You're gonna have a hard time without a TDS or PH meter, as one said you can get both on ebay for abt $10 each. also as said most nutes mixed according manuf instrucerions give you way too high ppm. you might have a N deficiency from what I can see asside from nute burn.

I was following the instructions on the Advanced line bottles, and after I got my ppm meter and checked; turns out that the 'instructions' set me up for destruction..... about 2700ppm of destruction... : /

Get a ppm meter.

Thanks a ton for all the advice! I know I should get a PPM meter so I'll look into it but you guys were a great help just letting me know I've burned the shit out of my ladies! I felt like I was going crazy looking over hundreds of pictures and all of them looking similar but all with different diagnosis...

I have seriously considered soil and one of the only reasons I haven't done it yet is the thought of having to buy bags of soil in the middle of winter... It just seems suspicious to my paranoid little brain. With hydro I have very little trafficking of growing materials in and out of my house which keeps a low profile and prying eyes away...

Some of the cola's look much better than the others... Should I just abandon the grow or slowly start feeding nutes to see if I can save a cola or two?

That was also one of my reasons for dwc..only water to get rid of. And all that damn trash plant material but thats another story. DWC is great man dont give up yet. If you have good air in the water and a decent water temp then your golden you just have to make sure you dont over do the nutes because its very easy to do in a dwc. Trust me this is the type of setup that defines the "less is more" saying. You can use way less nutes and get way bigger buds! Environment, strain and a healthy plant make a good yield. DWC is a little more to set it up right the first time but its much cheaper in the end to run.

If you don't have a ppm meter and you're in hydro, you probably should run 1/4 nutes and increase only when you're looking at a deficiency and then increase slowly.

I just got a ppm meter and discovered the amount of nutes I was using on my last grow was twice the recommended ppm for hydro, and it was what the product label suggested. Not just a waste of nutes but potentially a problem for the plant.
