so lets see if we got this straight: same strain? same recipe? same s.s% (and cooktime) , put outside same time, same amount of buffer, same water . and this year different results?

Your damaged fan leaves look like nutrient burn the soil was likely a bit hot for their liking. The giveaway for me is the leaf curling and necrosis very similar to what I have seen in my plushberry when it gets some super soil. you will probably find that the plant slows down a bit but recovers nicely and grows fine. I would suggest heavy watering for a few days or a week and let them adjust. I think you will find that in a week or two they will be well adjusted and take off growing again.

Good luck

The soil cooked for about 5 weeks in sealed cans. Not sure what u mean by not cooked "effeciently" enough. your remedy sounds spot on to me except loading up the top soil with more lime. I am a bit worried that maybe the soil ph is already a bit low. Maybe I will check my run-off...
Unless your super soil is in ideal conditions 5 weeks isn't enough time for SS to properly set. Just from my own experience. I have had similar issues with using it too early.

8 weeks is what I wait minimum, depending on what kind of nutes you used (granular/powder, etc) the brake down can be slower or not as even.

Hope ur not adjusting the ph of ur compost tea.
nope...its always around neutral.....my water comes out at 7.4....when i used to run organic liquids, i would make some tweaks.....but my water mixed with an average dose is usually around 6.3 anyways.......as far as the soil....if it wasn't properly cooked by the bennies, the PH will be really low......a freshly mixed batch of super soil will test between 5 and 6....but after it composts, it will come up to optimal.

right, your soil PH is too low imho....dolomite will act as a buffer.

any time you see the middle leaves get blue/green and begin to claw....you are hot....simple as that....too much fuel, she will stunt, then begin to show signs of lock-out (necrosis), but it is not because of a lack of N in the medium, its because she is getting alot of steak, and no potatoes.......its simply an imbalance......they need to be flushed with clean water.....then test your run-off...my bet is you are hovering around 5.8..and your ppm will be screamin' at around 1300.

Thanks for all the help guys!! Gonna do a heavy flush with some RO and then make a batch of light tea to get the heard going. Then maybe top dress with a bit of lime as buckets said... This was always my one worry about the SS method, if u start burnin up your kinda screwed.

*note, I am running different strains this year, only 3 are tga gear. The jack herrer and jedi kush really dont seem to like the SS haha

I had the same issues as you on all of my plants. And when I started to check my ph of my water it was 5.6 bumped it up to 6.5-6.8 and now everything is nice n green. I originally checked my ro water ph and it was 6.6 so I thought oh perfect...well that was in the winter now in the summer its coming out at 5.6 I don't get it but ive heard of this happening before.

Weird... I checked the ph of my run off and it was low to mid
5s. I will shoot for a 7 ph for the next few waterings i think

u r right though. if the soil is acidic and you lower the ph of your water that could lead to problems. most water comes out pretty high ph. i say if you leave that alone, and water with high alkaline water it should balance out the equation. but since ive used s.s in large containers. ive noticed that as long as their is a big ass buffer u dont need extensive cooking.
