yellowing tops, help a brother out!

Hey you guys, New growth seems to be yellowing on my plants, along with some other issues. This is my first time growing so I'm impressed they're not all dead yet frankly. I just put them into 12/12 2 days ago. They range in age from 4 to 6 weeks from seed. From what I see, Plant A maybe too much Nitrogen and not enough Sulfur? Hard to diagnose these deficiencies or overages. Plants BC&D, sulfur deficiency, Zinc, Iron? Also this is bagseed, most likely sativa. I also heard lower temps at night can cause some lockout. My temps are 73ish at night and 80-84 ish in the day. Plant A looks the worst off which sucks because it's the only one I know is a female so far. I'll post all the pics it'll let me. The first are normal light and about 4 days ago. The others are today with hps in background

Here's the rundown of my setup:

400w HPS
Temps 72-84 range, usually high closer to 82 FF
Happy Frog Soil with 30% perlite mixed in - 2 Gal pots
General Organics Nutes, so far only used BioGrow and CaAMg+ and only very sparingly. Maybe too sparingly? Have only been using every other or every 3rd watering with 1/2 strength of both. Soil seems hot is why.
Plant A has been in 2 gal pot for about 2.5 weeks. The rest of them for a week to 10 days.
Using tap water through black carbon filter, ph'd to 6.5-6.8ish
Have also been ph'ing my nutes to same range, which for some reason general organics says not to.

Was thinking of trying some epsom salt, as this looks maybe like a sulfur issue? Thanks for reading this novel! What do you think I should do to fix these?

Hey thats kinda weird, ive put my babies in 12/12 the past few days ago, im useing happy toad soil, 400hps in my 4x4 tent, my biggest is around 4 months, and the 4 others are 2 months, but my bigger one is showing nearly the same yellowing effect
I use hydro-organics, Earth Juice grow and bloom, i started useing the grow at a 1/2 tbsp and moved up to a regular dose, ive never really had any problems with over-nute or PH, but noticed the yellowing after i moved them to the tent with the HPS, where they were still in veg for a few days under that bulb before the switch.

ill try to post some pics soon, yours are a lil similar to mine, but my big one is far more yellow than your plants. I was attributing mine maybe to the color of the HPS light, since it has a strong spike in yellow light waves. Mainly because of no nutrient problem, my plants are very healthy just as yours look blindguardian420, but i wanted to put in my two cents because of your closely described set-up, and CORRECTION it is a FROG not a toad, lol

You invented a new product lol, happy toad! Maybe our issue is to do with some micronutrient missing from the happyfrog soil since we're having the same issues? Mine started doing that under 400w metal halide as well so not just an hps thing, at least in my case. What strain are you growing? Maybe someone will chime in to help us with our mutual issue. Mine are somewhat healthy looking but the top leaves at the tip are twisting a bit and slowing down in growth.

ok the tops turn that color when they eat nutes, mine stay about the size of a quarter, the plant grows fastest using half strength nutes every other watering any more or less causes slower smaller growth. you've fed a lot of nutes i would cut back 25%, your leaves are bending down because of salt build up, N is the saltiest nute, and you have a nice dark green canopy, your nute schedual seems almost perfect if you've been feeding for a while, just lighten up the nutes a little

Thanks, will cut back a little and give that a try! Will be switching to bloom so that will have less N which will hopefully help.

your plants look pretty healthy imo. I too noticed the bending and it's a salt buildup. If you want to make sure you're not close to locking nutrients out, check the ph of your runoff water and if it's significantly higher than 6.5 you should probably flush. I think that's a bit extreme for this case tho. Your temps are a bit high too. I'd try to lower them to 70-75

try and keep your nutes as balanced as possible, too often these bloom nutes have too little N and your leaves start to die off from N deficiency, which is not healthy.... unless your flushing for harvest and only then is it ok to have dead leaves but that for flavor/taste reasons.

blarg, still having issues with this plant, its sealed in the darkroom now so I can't take pics. My runoff ph is like 5.2, which seems real low. I did buy some powdered lime today though so I may try putting 2 tablespoons on top and watering it in to raise it some. The plant is still droopy as hell and not flowering nearly as well as my other confirmed female. Of course all the males were dark green and healthy till the end wtf, lol. I killed another male today and noticed it looked pretty rootbound in a 2 gal bucket for being 18 in tall. I wonder if I should try transplanting plant A, the problem child, to a 5 gal bucket. I don't even know if I have that much soil left. Would it fuck it up to mix in some promix with the happy frog when I transplant, do you think? What size do y'all finish a 4-5 foot plant in?

So I ended up putting her a 3 gal pot today, it was a bitch. Hope I didn't stress her out too much. I accidentally banged her around a bit in the transfer. She pretty much had quit growing anyway though, and though she was flowering before the other known fem, the other fem (plant C) has surpassed her in size and white hairs.The root ball on plant A was pretty massive and healthy looking, so maybe she has a chance to recover and be a big producer! She is bushy as f*ck, so if she will just get back to budding we'll be in business! On another note, it's awesome to see plant C starting to bud. There's something very satisfying about seeing all your hard work come to fruition. I know there's another 8 weeks of challenges ahead though, so wish us luck!
