yes or no to flu vaccine?

Maybe when I'm older but I haven't had the flu or even been sick in about 15 years or more, can't even remember. Got all that when I was a kid so my immune system is in tip top shape right now.

vaccines are for pussies... :P
but seriously. vaccines are no good. not only have they caused serious illness/sterilization, but they dont always do their intended job.

People are too skeptical now days. Yes they have the virus in it and give you a slight cold but they're good after that. The virus is dead (or whatever the scientific term is) and they don't give you any serious ilness or not responsible for it. Of course it doesn't always work, it's medicine, not always guaranteed.

i've never had a flu shot but i know a lot of people who have. most of them claim to have gotten sick in some way after getting it, some severely so. doctors claim that doesn't happen, but that's a hell of a conspiracy to pull off with that many people telling lies. either that or the most coincidental onset of a "cold" i can imagine. my mother was once bedridden from the flu shot. she's against it so much that she opted to wear a mask at work rather than get the shot. she works in a hospital and this year they are forcing employees to either get the shot or wear a mask. 3 of her co-workers have been out for 5+ days, and they ALL got the flu shot months ago. big fat help that was. the shot doesn't even protect you from "the flu", it only protects against whatever strains are estimated to be an issue way before the flu season hits. i guess someone read their tea leaves wrong this year.

if it's a young kid or an older person i can see the need to take precautions, but i'm 29 years old and i have no reason to believe my immune system is compromised. i really don't see the point of going through the hassle of getting the shot, possibly getting a bad reaction, and then getting the flu anyway. i'll pass.

I've never done it, but not against it. If a nurse with sterile shit was sitting right here I would say go for it. I just don't really care I guess. My old job they would bring in a clinic so everyone who wanted it would get it for free. I just never was there at the right time I guess. The good thing was everyone that did get it made it so I didn't ever get sick. This year I happened to get the flu, but I really don't get phased by throwing up, seriously. It just doesn't bug me.

The anti-immunization crowd is one of those crowds that refuses to listen to a specialist who speaks on their own field...

Like rednecks telling an anthropologist "I didn't come from no monkey". The redneck works on diesel engines for a living.
Or Christians telling a paleontologist "you have your dates mixed up, the Bible says...". The Christian runs a copy store.

immunization opposing person telling a doctor "the flu vaccine doesn't work/isn't safe/etc..". He/she works as a shipping clerk.

You know what I'm saying?

I don't really have room to talk... I'm not comfortable drinking tap water... haha. Immunizations don't really bother me though.
I'll trust my doctor over my city water treatment specialist, any day.

I guess the argument against what I said here would be that an anthropologist is not profiting from or selling evolution. A paleontologist is not trying to sell me a calendar..
A doctor is selling and profiting from a vaccination/immunization.

I used to work for a catering business for a little extra cash... I have seen the Drug Rep world first hand... sketchy.
We could charge whatever the hell we wanted... pharma knows that sending a drug rep/former cheerleader into a doctors office with food and a smile brings a HUGE return on investment.

I think that Federal law does not even allow drug reps to by doctors lunch anymore... they did in my catering days. I'm sure pockets are still being lined though.

wow, Im surprised so many say no to the flu shot.

Heartland hank, I heard from a doctor that they try not to give out the flu vac. too much because then the flu is more likely to change and become immune to flu shot. The virus changes over time to get past the immunization they give you. But Idk, Myabe the virus wouldnt keep changing so rapidly if healthy people that never get sick much and when they do they beat it quick dont take a flu shot. Its kinda strange/crazy the flu can just "morph into a different virus"

I don't get the flu and pneumonia vaccines every year. I haven't had so much as a sniffle in years. :-P

For most of the population it does little to no harm, or help. For a very small percentage it has devastating consequences. I've done alot of research on the matter after my wife was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy days after getting the vaccine. I do believe the vaccine is what caused it. There are 80 or so other "bugs" that have been identified to have exactly the same symptoms as influenza strains also.

Without reading this thread. My answer is yes. I got the flu twice and pneumonia once in one year and after the flu shot. Haven't been sick since and it's been about 2 years.
