no, a mirror is not as good as panda film, Mylar or tin foil....best is white flat paint

I've heard it said more than once that mirrors eat light.
IDK if that's true or not - but the claim has been made more than once by people with better light meters than I.

Flat white paint gets my nod.

No.

No. In basic terms, light has to pass through the glass of a mirror to reach the reflective coating on the back, and then pass back through the same glass. That thin glass will refract and scatter some light every which way due to impurities, micro scratches in the glass/reflective coating and the angle the light is. Also due to that, it is possible to have a hot spot reflected back.
