Yesterday's Mass Shooting.

I don’t recall the year, but I DO recall Elroy speaking to an SFWA convention*. His speech was a long diatribe against editors & the companies who hired editors & bought fiction (science fiction, specifically), against the penny-a-word, work-for-hire BS…and capped it all by saying something like ‘let’s face it - if we want to be paid what we’re worth, we shout stop writing - and start a religion.

No actual PROOF that he stopped at a liquor store on his way home to write Dianetics!….
I’ve never read his stuff, but he had serial works of like 800 pages a volume, so a penny a word shoulda had him in Cadillacs and single malt.
He incorporated key elements of his turgid space opera in shite’ology. WHAT an ego.

I dunno. The upper one could be right handy if fitted with a top-notch suppressor, right until the specialist ammo runs out.

The lower one is a fetish. In the dictionary sense:

an inanimate object worshiped for its supposed magical powers or because it is considered to be inhabited by a spirit.
isn’t the top one both 5.56 and .300? At least semi practical. Agreed on second

He didn't know or lied about it? I knew he was an asshole but that's depraved and evil.
he didn't know at the time, he presummed (sp) right off the bat........

come to find out 3 out of the people shot, were legal and with Texas ID's, there was a total of 15 in that house at the time, one of the woman that was shot, was a wife, she threw he husband out the window while holding her child he was 9, she didn't make it and the child didn't make it.....right now the shooter has a boundy on his head for 80k, and the FBI is involved now.....

It started out 50k I’m glad it’s up to 80k now. What I want to know is how he acquired the rifle and ammunition considering the illegality of him owning it. That needs to be traced and determined. I fully support having to ID and wait for certain calibers of ammunition and would support legislation introduced specifically for that.

I made a comment that was deleted and all I was trying to point out initially was the shooter is Mexican national and the victims were Honduran nationals. There is some random a** hate between certain Hispanic communities that’s hard to understand unless you’re familiar on that level. The way this guy attacked the whole family just rubs wrong. The guy for sure knew they were a Honduran family. Their legality only matters to me in a sense of should he have been here at all and able to acquire the weapon he did. I don’t think I mentioned their legality at all though.

What's the vibe on Abbot after all the shit he's done and most especially not done? Is he as popular as ever or is he losing support?

The nationality of the victims is irrelevant until facts come out showing it is.

Shortly after I got out of the navy I had landed in Seattle with a backpack and a guitar when I was approached on the street by a couple of Scientologists who asked if I'd like to take a free "personality test", which I accepted and was led to a second-story office space
I'd read a book called "The Scandal of Scientology "while I was in the navy so I was familiar with their belief system and answered all the questions accordingly so that when they analyzed the results on their very hip computing device, they were shocked and pronounced me completely "clear" at which point I said "I know, I'm your God..." and was ultimately asked to leave

The moonies tried to get me too, with a free spaghetti dinner

Why that wasn't very manly, he had a gun after all, I guess he was afraid to use it on the cops but wasn't too afraid to murder innocent people. I thought these kinds of gun owners were manly men, who in their compensatory fantasies, know no fear, but live under its shadow constantly.

It makes no difference at all if they or he were US citizens, it is completely irrelevant. This guy was deported 4 times and yet he had no problem at all in getting a gun in Texas. Would some here feel better if the victims and shooter were American citizens? What difference would it make?

"
Authorities now have 90 days to indict Oropesa, and the Mexican consulate will be formally notified Wednesday of his circumstances, a law enforcement source involved said.

At least four times since 2009, Oropesa had entered the US unlawfully and been deported, according to an ICE source. An immigration judge first removed him in March 2009 before he was deported again in September 2009, January 2012 and July 2016, the source said."

great thing the consulate is in the city close to me

So, he was just deported once during the Trump administration but 3 times during the Obama administration. Think a wall would have kept this asshole out? Not likely. America needs immigration and these people are a source of much needed immigrants, after the election Joe should declare an amnesty for every one of them and grant them citizenship. Texas declared war on America, so declare it back and flood the zone with immigrants and tell each one the republican party hates their guts. 5 or 10 million new citizens in Texas would do the place and America a world of good.

the broad support Republicans get despite the awful things they say and do shows that it’s a common defect.
If the republicans ran death camps complete with crematoriums, they would hardly lose any support among those who already vote for them. To be or to vote republican is not a political choice anymore, it is the hallmark of a character defect and moral failure.

I won’t go so far. It’s more of a cognitive defect. The Germans are not an evil people, and look at the rabbit hole they went into.

I suppose anything that reduces the numbers of guns, but federal annual taxation of handguns and registration for the purposes of taxation would work better. Don't want to pay the registration and annual tax? Then drop off the gun and avoid the taxes, if it is a valuable gun, then they get $100, if it is a cheap gun they get nothing.
You sure do love your tax thing lol. So your ok with gun ownership as long as your rich enough :(?
