Yield test between 1000W and a 400W let's settle this for once

My last harvest was 1.09g/w from 4x2ft tall cheese plants.


1g/w is pretty easy to accomplish if you have a dialed in room.

Having a grow room that is efficient and controllable IMO is the greatest addition anyone can make to increase their yields/density.


I've had my hardest/densist buds in temps below 75F/24C.

High Times magazine Secret's of Master Growers issue from last fall as well as the indoor grower's bible both state you LOSE more light when you use 1000w compared to 600w. even air cooled reflectors cannot be hung as close to the canopy as the lower wattage air cooled reflectors. therefor you DONOT get better light penetration with a higher wattage. spend the money on either of those 2 things and you will see. if you want to be cheap you can download the indoor grower's bible on FrostWire, search for it under the books section. I personally paid for it before I downloaded the "condensed" version you can get on the internet. MANY commercial growers use 1000w's because they are not as interested in a PER PLANT yield. they are looking for a field crop yield. Home growers with less than 99 plants will find higher yields and lower energy costs using two 400 or 600w lights compared to a single 1000w. PROVEN BY THE MASTERS.

My first grow was with a 400 watt hps i got nice dense buds used gallon and half pots to grow 4 plants pulled a total of 6 oz now im under a 1000 and hope to pull over a pound

Get 1 strain take 2 clones of this strain. Do 2 weeks veg and then flower one under a 1000W and one under a 400W. Keep conditions identical same nutes same everything the only variable being the light. We need someone to do this. let's settle this debate once and for all.

Now I would love to be the candidate to do this but I don't have the space or the lights. I have seen plenty of people that have like 3 1000's and a 400 so someone on this forum has got the resources to do this.

Now I am assuming that we haven't already tested this but if there's a thread feel free to post a link I just haven't seen it.

I am that guy. The most I have harvested on 400w is 4oz. I have harvested 8ozs. off a 600w HPS, I now have 2000w HPS flowering 5 plants. I am harvesting one today, I need weed, Today is day 51 on a 9 week strain. This is what 2000w give u!!!View attachment 2632380View attachment 2632381I did this under a 400w HPS. you will get bigger yield if you sort out the veg def, in the first photo you are def in N an the PH looks a bit off, sort these an u ll get 10oz

i think what this topic comes down to is, is it worth getting the 600's vs 1000's, you need more ballasts and bulbs but get better efficiency lumen vs watt. heat isnt a factor for any light if its controlled, the real thing is lumen per watt and how much you save and how much you spend on equipment . i totally understand people who use 1000w lights

The first plant u are referring to is my first flower, a sativa, ur lookin at week 9 on that plant. she had probably gone through 72 hours of darkness. I have chopped one down, I would say easily 8-10ozs. Here's the Harvest from one plant. I will be harvesting the rest in 10 days or less. I have been flushing for a week now. I did overdose them in week 5 with P and K, I already caught it and she got a flush. Some of us kinda know what we are doing!!!10ozs. not a problem, wait 2 more weeks when I harvest 4 more plants!!! I didn't show u all the harvest, couldn't fit all the bud in. Wait a week till it is dry and I will get back to u guys. I just smoked what I scraped off my scissors and it is GOOOOOOOD!

600 is the best of both worlds. If you have a nice 7x7 room set up for a 1000 watter and you put a 400 in there what do you think will happen? I was actually stoned enough to do this test by accident and was wondering why my plants were so wimpy. A 400 will make nice buds in a small area but it won't fill a room with light like a 1000.
