Youre right some great weed comes from bag seed. But theres alot of crap too lol. Just too unstable for me. I think its funny when someone thinks they gona grow the same weed from the seed they got in the bag lol. Really could exhibit many diff traits maybe some good maybe all bad? Who knows. If ya got the time and dont care to potentially loose a crop then all the power to ya! You might find a diamond in the dirt!

bagseeds can be magic brother
I know this thread is old..growing out a Sour Power bag seed right now (the bud was dank diesel fuel with grapefruit, old school dank, not sweet and fruity) anyway…
does anyone know how this dude grew this? I like the idea of budding out tiny plants and wonder what method he used here.

here’s the pic again in case the dude is not here anymore to help answer.

I've heard a lot of growers talk about avoiding bagseed like it's the plague. Even on the streets, the potsmokers in non-legal places seem to think that "mid seeds" will only grow "mid plants". But we all know how ignorant nongrowers are!

I'm currently growing a little beast of my own from seemingly innocent bagseed and I'm curious on you guys' thoughts and experiences from growing bagseed.

All the seeds we grew in the 90's...up until marc emery direct....were bagseed from mexican import.....and i grew some amazing weed from crappy brickweed seeds, cherry, skunk,pine...lot of different phenos and structure...

I miss the shit I used to get in the 90s. Skunk, Diesel, Strawberry Cough, Northern Lights…even came across Chocolate Thai occasionally. Still searching for something similar to SD but they are all sweet, no dankness like the old stuff.

Where the hell did all the Skunk and Sour Diesel go???

My keeper cut of Red Velvet from Grandiflora. My brother bought some very over priced red Velvet cut in grass valley in 2021 and made more clones and to make his $$ he ran a few light dep greenhouses. When I got my pack of different varieties the red velvet right away was my favorite had. Cherry black liquorice nose. So I was breaking up the elbow into zips and found 8 seeds so I popped 2 in the spring of that year 1 was a whirled phylotaxy that had 3 and 4 branches per node was hard to keep mold free but was good but the 2 nd one was unreal so took a bunch of cuts and just stuck em in a cup of potting soil and kept in Shady area with a plastic clear drink cup with a few air holes they all rooted no gels or hormones I’ve kept a cut of that bagseed ever since and have copped some red velvet from dispo and it’s close but my pheno is gassy bit with a liquorice and the old wax candy lips terps and flavor. Truth. E told of her high was t so savage I’d much rather grow a LCG or a runts , after popping a few other of the bag seeds they were all real good but some were just LCG and others were more spicy. I got lucky and found one that was a outlier

The fact is some of the best and most well known strains nowadays came from bagseed. Most people avoid it because of the unknown factor. But my opinion is if the weed the seed came from was that good it is worth a try. Hell some people have even grown incredible cannabis from seeds from in properly grown cannabis.
At least with bag seed you do not have someone claiming to be a breeder charging you money for the seed lol
If it is just a couple seeds in say an ounce as appose to dozens or more I would pop it if the smoke it came from was that good.
Cheers :)
My keeper cut of red velvet and Biscotti were both from some bagseeds. My brother is in grass valley and 3 summers ago he had his light dep green house full of red velvet sent me a some packs of Biscotti and Red velvet and some gush mints. They all had just a handful of seeds in the pounds I opened. So when I smoked the red velvet I was so impressed after splitting it up I found 8 beans popped 5 and all were really good but 1 was unreal it was cherry lemon gas with dark chocolate notes but the candy wax lips we had as kids is the main nose I got. She been I. My garden since. Also found 6 Biscotti seeds and kept the sativa leaning pheno. She is so savage take her to 68-73 days and it has a completely different flavor and high

Growing bag seed is MUCH riskier than breeder stock, as the pollen that made the seed could have easily come from an intersexed or hermaphrodite plant. That being said, I will grow a seed if it came from a really spectacular bud just to see what I get, knowing the plant might fail stress tests; etc. Sometimes risky behavior is more exciting - lol.
