well i am sitting here stoned and reflecting on the image marijuana has and been transforming. i watched a cnn special about 3 months ago and they showed a propoganda film from the 1950s about marijuana. they said if you smoke the reefer you are a murderer. thats the biggest crock of shit i have ever heard. and i was also relfecting on how people are so against it. and i realize they are against it because its illegal. but also at the same time pot has been in the news quite often in the last year (thankz fox news) and i realize its only time till its legal. it just makes me so mad that there are people out there who hate pot with a passion. and if you were to mention it to them they lecture you and so on. only if they knew what everyone on this website has- the same mentality about pot. now that scientific research is being done on the plant and realizing that its safe with medicinal properties. i think people against pot are lashing out more because they are being out witted by pot heads. but i hate being around those people so much.

haha yea, i remember being a teenager and getting caught with pot by my mom, "im not gonna give you money to support a habit!"

Everyone is different. Not all people who are ignorant are stupid. It's up to you and me and that guy over there to educate people about cannabis. Peace.

it just makes me mad that a lot of people (usually older people) have the wrong perception of pot.

The first time I was busted for bud, it took my mom by suprise. She sat me down and tried to lecture me on the dangers of herb. Of course, I had a rebutal for all her points but she just wouldnt see my side. For awhile after that she would do "research" on antipot websites to find statistics to contradict mine, highlighting her points lol. Man, that was such a load of shit. She has since dropped the act since I am no longer under her roof or insurance stating that I am a man and am capable of deciding whether or not to ruin my own life. My dad on the otherhand refuses to partake because it is illegal. He once said that when/if mj was legalized he would smoke a weed cigar with us. a blunt with my pops would be fucking unreal!

I think if you look around you will find persecution from all sides, not just from persons that are older than you are.
I'm a bit over the 1/2 century mark as are most of my pot - head friends & you and I both like the same herb.
Sorta makes you think a bit differently when you're walking around the grocery store looking at "older" folks don't it.

well i dont mean to stereotype anyone. but there is a trend of older people who despise it. as well as people in their teens and 20's. the thing is is that they are misinformed. and its crazy how people are influenced from false data. here it is 2009 and theres probably been close to 50 years of research. and the funny thing is is that weed is still safer than cigarettes 50 years later after research started. these anti-pot agencies are just going to continue to mislead the general public. if everyone knew the potential of pot and actually knew the truth and not what people want you to hear it would probably be legal

It makes me pretty mad as well but it's not really their fault. Our society has been feeding the public a steady diet of propaganda about cannabis for almost a century! It is going to take a long time to change the collective opinion about pot. There is a lot of corporate money being spent to keep cannabis illegal as well. If it becomes legal it could and probably will hurt a lot of industries in the pocket book. Hell it could even put some of those same industries out of business altogether. The cannabis community has it's share of idiots that give us a bad name as well. You know the old saying, "One bad apple spoils the whole bunch". It is very true and we have a lot of work to do to overcome the bad name that some potheads are giving us.

a lot of good points OP but really the hate comes from the problem that its a recreational drug for more people than its a medicinal thing. until the world realises its just the same as having a drink to unwind after a hard day the better but theres also the school of thought that drinking is bad for you so i cant see things changing that fast.

My dad busted me out once. I'm 24 so it wasn't "You're in trouble," it was "I'm disappointed." After 20 minutes of my rebuttals he said "I'd rather you smoke than drink any day." Then he went on to tell me about all the time him and his friends managed to get good imported stuff in the 70's.

Not all parents are against the herb because they think its really bad, some just don't want their kids doing it.

My grandmother still talks about how you can "get hooked on smoking dope." And she means pot when she says dope.

It was my bag, I left it in the kitchen. My dad said "don't leave this laying around, it pisses your mother off". He later told me If I was going to smoke, he would rather I did it at home than get busted out and about. He could see the difference it made for me, my grades went up when I started smoking. Granted it was from a d to a c but hey............

well i hope peoples mentality on pot changes soon. its so frustrating to deal with those people on a regular basis

I gave up debating people who live in the stone age on issues, I just laugh a little and move on. Not much chance of changing their mind.
