Your first grow room design: what worked, what didn't?

Uhh. For me anyway, the thing that has always helped the most is to design everything while I am stone cold sober, like first thing in the AM. Make a list of all of your needs. Water, drainage, light placement, ventilation, etc. Plan for all your cords and wires in advance, I like to keep that all shit conveniently accessible, but out of my way. Sketch up very clear pictures of your vision first, then toke and review the ideas. Will sometimes notice little things I hadn't considered, take notes. I also do all of my building completely unhazed, like the next morning, its too easy for shit to be "good enough" when I am high and then three weeks later it starts annoying me and I gotta fix it when I should be watching anime or something. So that was the big lesson for me, plan and build sober.

Paint all caulking as it is a dirt magnet.

Multi-coat wall nails/screws (or use stainless) to prevent rust bleedthrough.

Build with increased capacity in mind. Create intake and exaust openings able to to handle at least 2" diam. more than you think you need. Wire for at least twice the wattage you think you need. Etc. Of course, this can probably apply to overall room size too, depending on limitations.

I like my plywood walls as opposed to sheetrock if only for the ability to hang something anywhere with just a screw.

I use PVC for my short ducting/filter needs and it is easy to deal with and quiet.

On grow 3 in current build so I have not experienced all that mother nature can throw at a room constructed in a unheated barn. There are some issues that will continue to be addressed but happy. My biggest want is another room of similar size as I only have the one. Biggest issue is humidity currently but the girls are just happy.

You are correct Weed, it wont add a ton of light using the clear ducting, but it is just an effort to recover some lumens that would be otherwise be unused. It does eliminate the dark spot between hoods and that doesn't suck.

Don't use shit duct tape. Don't know how good it is in the U.S. but in the U.K. it's shit. The best brand we've got is acctually called American duct tape.
If you stick Mylar or orca or black and white sheeting to your walls make sure it stays there coz if it falls off and ur not there it could easily cause all manner of problems
Gorilla tape!!!.
