Your Greatest Achievement

I have to give it to you Pad, you an atheist that I cannot over-do LOL. I do enjoy arguing with you, I am going to apologize for mocking you.

BUT, I do want to say we as humans have freedom of choice. Our greatest power, and sometimes, our weakest leak.

Think of it like this, why would our ALL LOVING God MAKE us obey His rules, His guidelines(which comes down to the basics of common morals)?

Yes, an atheist can be a GREAT citizen, I'm not saying they aren't/cant be.

If He MADE us all obey, then we would have no power of choice, no freedom to decide what we want to believe. You've done your research, and to YOU, it doesn't add up there is a God. I've done mine, and it does add up. I CANNOT get it through my head the a bunch of dust combusted and made this beautiful earth and us.

Say, you are God. You created an earth and people. Wheres the "fun" in making them obey everything you say. The point in this, He gave us this choice, He gave us reason.

About the villages He destroyed, its pretty 'simple' if you will. The villages were sinning, even when they were told by Gods messengers and such not to. Back then, God made Himself 'alive' to His chosen.

Honestly, I haven't read much of the Bible, I've skipped around. I see more of God in Nature, and in people. Like the recent Joplin tornado disaster, its absolutely BEAUTIFUL the way others from across the nation have quit their jobs and left their homes to stay and help. You can call that just people being people, but I see it as more. Nothing like a good bowl of skunk out on the lake enjoying Gods land IMO.

And I know that is a terrible way to look at it, "if your right, im dirt, if your wrong, haha" I was just making a point.

OK, yes, we have the freedom of choice, in that we are free to choose what we do, who we communicate with, ect. those kinds of things. But we do not have the freedom of belief. Like I explained before, you don't get to choose what you believe, your brain automatically does it, it's an involuntary process, like digestion, you don't control it, therefore it is not a "choice". You understand that correctly, right? If not, tell me and I'll try to explain it better.

I've head this argument before. But Ireg, think about it, what kind of a choice is Heaven/Hell? Think of it like this, if you and I are sitting in a room together and I offer you the choice between two free tickets to the Bahamas and a cold, damp, torn up, infectious old sweater... which one are you going to choose? Do you really think there is an atheist alive who has sat down, thought about the implications of what believers tell them will happen to them and STILL chosen atheism? Really? This is a serious question..

If it's a handful of gold vs a handful of sand, its not a fair choice, there are outside variables influencing your choice, the value of the gold vs the value of the sand, the potential gain in social status, economic status, etc.. There are reasons outside of your control which will benefit you if you make a certain choice that you are completely aware of. This seems to me like a form of insider trading.

You don't know enough about the theories you dismiss. You see that they conflict with your preconceived belief about what your faith says about creation and that's all it takes. You don't need to learn it because you know your god created everything, that stuff is just crazy science jargon.. Take a look for yourself, every single theory in science that is subject to such fanatical critique by fundamentalist religious groups is one which touches on origins or conflicts with what their faith has to say about it, coincidence? Of course it's not, look at reality man, there it is, right there in black (green) and white. Don't deny it.

So that's what this is eh? Some grand 'game'? Oh the fun it is, how so many B illions of people have had such great lives on the planet, especially the first part, what with the 30 some odd years of average lifespan, followed by the spread of infectious plagues and world wars murdering millions of innocent people...

I'm havin' a BLAST!

If I were God Ireg, I'd create people in a Heaven on Earth without having to play such a cruel game to begin with. Given the extent of power you guys attribute to the guy, that is LIMITLESS, yeaaaaah, I'm pretty sure I'd be more than capable of handling the job...

About the villages He destroyed, its pretty 'simple' if you will. The villages were sinning, even when they were told by Gods messengers and such not to. Back then, God made Himself 'alive' to His chosen.
This is acceptable to you?

Honestly, I haven't read much of the Bible, I've skipped around. I see more of God in Nature, and in people.
Again, that is just ignorance. You need to read the Bible, see if you believe what it has to say for yourself. Read it alongside a history book to check dates and facts. Do it as a detective would. See for yourself if you actually believe the actions the god of the Bible takes are just, righteous, good. If they're not, how would you explain that?

Also, questions from the last post I'd like you to address;

a. Do you automatically believe in everything that is unprovable? If you don't, then what makes God special?

b. How could Satan control Hell, Earth, anything if a benevolent God existed? How would Satan have any significant role at all?

My biggest achievement would be advancing to Eagle Scout... that has landed me more beneficial experiences than anything else I've done in life I'd say.
