right now for veg i am using a 400w EYE hortilux, it has enough spectrum to take them all the way through harvest.. i didnt feel the need to buy the conversion bulb just yet.. i love the growth of my plants under this light and honestly dont feel the need for a MH bulb.

what have yall tried or experienced and found that works best for ya'll??

I used to use a 250w MH conversion bulb for veg. and then switched to a HPS bulb for flower. I now use just a HPS bulb for the whole cycle and it doesn't really make a big difference imo. If your other choice would be CFL's then a HPS is def. better.

Idk dude my grow on my sig now is my first REAL grow or wtvr ok?
I grew a experimental grow b4 and i just read a book then started
out w bagseed and flouros. The flourecents seemed to make the plant
ALOT bushier or whatnot just grew and looked overall better than my
plants im growing under a friggin 400w :-? Same amount of nodes
at each time but one plant would have 5 nodes and be bushy as fuck
and the other have 5 and look like my current grow. Idk jw :eyesmoke:

i do like t5's they are good, surprisingly good but M/H have there benefits too, personally use 600watts as i find the stems stay very compact and thick, not only tht but in my case i only like plants tht can handle extremes as the weak fade away if you use a 600's/1000's but what works 4 one may not be the case for every one, find what works good 4 you, and also dont be afraid 2 try new stuff, with over 10 yrs behind me im always ready 2 try new things, we are all students to an ever evolving art (gardening) take from the past and the present & your own experiences and blend it all together there is no right or wrong, there is only your way as appose to another's
blend baby blend :eyesmoke:

my seedlings get one or two 26 watt 6500k cfls and after a week or so they go under a 600w advanced spectrum hps until harvest

Yea I would say the blue spectrum is better for veg., but everyone knows that anyways. I've just noticed for me it doesn't really matter, but it could be that I have a 250w HPS 10" from the tops of my plants in a 2 square foot cabinet.. so I got a lot of light distribution.

I use 2 different lights in my veg room. A 400W MH for new clones, they stay there for 3 weeks, then a 400 W HPS for 3 weeks, then into the flowering room.

Maybe it's just that the clones need to get over the cutting shock and grow some roots, but it seems to me that the new plants grow much more rapidly under the HPS, but attempts to root new clones under the HPS all fail miserably.
