I just snapped my main stem on a 3wkish old plant while trying to LST for the first time. My second plant LST didn't get snapped as I learned my lesson in bending from the first.

My advice, even if you make a mistake, or two, you'll come out way more knowledgeable from it, then if you hadn't made it.
I got a male plant my first grow, my uncle told me not to throw it out right away, but instead to use it to learn how to train a plant, that way even if you destroy it, no harm done, it also taught me how hard they are to kill! It stayed mostely alive in my garage with no lights but a window, no water, no love, and I topped twisted bent and broke it several times!

Good tip! I had a bad case of root rot and just threw everything I had at it. I cured it after 6 weeks but threw so much shit in the Rez I'm not sure what cured it lol.

I had a "brain challenged" guy friend one time who cloned fan leaves his first cloning try. For real. He showed them to me. He actually snipped fan leaves and planted them. Yes he did. Wow did he get red faced when I finally stopped laughing and told him what he did wrong.
