way better than skunk #1! it's not stony like skunk #1, it's much better tasting. i remember it tasting like dried lemongrass spice, and it has a really cool golden color. i'm not 100% sure, but i think there could be just a hint of trippiness in it too. all i remember is skunk #1 bores me, but lemon skunk had me grinning for not being schwag. i just liked all of the attention to detail particularly that color. it's kind of hard to describe, but it reminded me of an amber reflector sparkling. it almost seems to glow. very sexy looking buds. i want to knock that up with lemony and trippy malawi gold. the results should be even better than haze skunk, in theory.
if you can find a good blue dream, that smokes a lot like haze x skunk comparing notes with someone who grew that, but the dream has to taste better. i'm sure there are even more potent and trippy haze etc. hybrids out there, and i think even jack's cleaner 2 is trippier, but at the expense of adding a body weight stone. i'm ALWAYS looking for better hear, but it's so hard getting people to cough up info on superior hybrids. i tried some HQS thai x skunk, and it smoked pretty much like any generic fruity haze without the same trippiness as haze x skunk. maybe the THC profile of that one changed later in flowering. i had to cut EVERYTHING down early when my plants got burned, but sweet haze was busy kicking all of the other haze's butts in quality and trippiness already.
i plan on comparing malawi gold, jack's cleaner 2, haze x skunk, 25% NL5 columbian gold, & sweet haze under identical conditions this winter... higher QUALITY producing halide. maybe sweet haze will end up kicking skunk's butt. it sure tastes better at the very least and has a comparable trippiness level, but haze skunk is still pretty potent.
something you might want to try too is sannie's jack f7 or jackhammer. that site has a rep for breeding world class gear at affordable prices and their herer and sensi seed's $225 one are considered the 2 best in the world. i'm wondering if the jackhammer cross of herer with amnesia is even trippier, but i've never liked the sound of amnesia... it sounds spacy. just like jack the ripper, they have a REALLY trippy indoor friendly strain called killing fields. i know i'd love to blaze that if it was just called kittens and puppies or something. LOL
haze skunk isn't the most refined strain in the world maybe, but to me, it's stone free buzz makes it go toe to toe with my "gold standard", columbian. i'm really keen to see how the 25% NL gold compares and REALLY like the sound of the jack f5 columbian gold gage green is working on. those are my 2 favorite strains. dude would have to be a total fidiot to fuck that shit up, and gage is legit.
the best quality is going to be those 15 week plus hazes and land races, but they aren't too practical unless you can do them outdoors.
i'm really psyched that the january newsletter at attitude is going to be DNA/reserva privada. unless it's some OG kush only promotion, i think i'll order something as there's more DNA gear i'd like to try, and i want to work sour cream's flavor into something more energetic, like maybe cindy apollo. i already bred that, but didn't get any viable beans from the early harvest i had to do. cindy would give that a nice energy boost and it's mild fruit flavor would agree with that awesome cream cheese taste. i REALLY hope they're giving chocolope or cannalope haze away, but martian mean green or one of their other hazes would be fun to try too.
ahhh so many potentially awesome strains, and so little time and space. in the case of DJ short's grape krush... not enough money either, but i want to knock that up with ace oldtimer's (purple) haze sooooo bad!
