you're here, and I'm there

Have you ever thought about living in a place that is so different from where you are. I mean drastic. Like perhaps you live the mountains, have ever wanted to knowwknowwhat life's like in a tropical island. For me, I grew up in Manhattan but I always wanted to live in the desert. I hope to live jn Arizona one day.
If anyone lives in the deserted me know how are things.
Also, what's your dream location?

Yeah i have dreamed of living on an island. I also put serious thought into living off the land before. Never did it, never went thru with it. I was a little crazy, but I had good reasons

There's still time to give it a go. Maybe first try camping out a lot, join a hippy commune or start growing fruit and veg in your yard or an allotment if you don't have a yard to see how it works out.

I have a plot of land left to me by family in Trinidad. Built a little house on it and have sugarcan, mango, coconuts, peppers and Pomerac growing at the moment.

I'll like to live amongst wolves like Sean Ellis did lol. Or mate what the Dutcher's did, build a lodge in a resevrve with the wolves but had a house. Somewhere with wide open spaces to explore and lots of animals. Interesting terrain, that doesn't get too hot. Places with cultural diversity (and diverse women ) like Trinidad and Hawaii.. Anywhere it is easier to get weed lol. What's frustrating is I'd be able to get a med card for sure, for legitimate reasons abroad. I'm in a lot of pain a lot of the time.

I didn't grow up in Manhattan, but spent a lot of time there - hung out, a bit of school, a bit of work. I grew up in the burbs. I lived in SF for a short while, but had to leave to take care of my dad. Now that I am in my early 50's, I am starting to regret leaving "the city". I live in a "big" city, but it's not the same. I hop in the car and drive to the mall or WalMart - that is suburbia to me. When I lived in SF, I didn't even own a car!

My dream location is San Francisco - if I can figure out how to afford it and land an OK job, I will try to move back. Although right now, I would prefer almost any place where it was about 50-60 degrees warmer - yeah, 40F would be so very nice right now.

you can move darling, but i highly suggest a place with forest along the smokey mountains. as for OP desert= dry dry dry, hot dry hot hot hot no nature except where there is rock and sand and more rock where cacti CAM photosynth at night and their are vultures waiting to pluck out your eye balls. personally sounds a little to jewish Exodus for me . i just got threw Jericho so im good

my family is from trini also ...damn this time of year I miss my grandma's homemade ginger beer.

I have always said that every American should live in SF at least once in their life. SF is just such a great place to "come-of-age" to live.
I was raised in the East Coast, but I grew up in SF. Love it their!

hmmm... I have lived in the largest of cities... large cities, small cities... small towns... East Coast, West Coast... deep south... by the great lakes... in the desert, in the mountains... I have lived in appartments, mansions, large and small houses... been homeless and slept in the streets in allies, in front of office buildings, in the bushes of peoples yards... next to dryer outlets in the snow.... next to gangsters, yuppies, with hippies... lived in a car, a truck, a jeep, a bronco...by the beach... all over...

When you talk about Drastic Differences.... the land is the land, plants and trees, insects and animals... the world and nature are very similar everywhere imo... just work with it differently .... What have made these "places" so drastically different is the people, the social atmosphere, the history and culture, the lifestyles.... been just as happy homeless or on the road as in mansions and large houses or luxury hotels.... the happiest I have been was born of the place in my heart, mind, soul, and life... it was me and my family.... thats what mattered
