Late Wednesday, the Jackson County, Fla., Drug Task Force dismantled a sophisticated hydroponic marijuana greenhouse being operated in a barn outside the residence of a Malone-area man.
Eulatio Santiago, 29, was charged with the cultivation of marijuana in the case and with other offenses unrelated to the grow operation.
Task Force Commander Joey Rabon said the 13 plants found in the barn were of the highest quality - all sensimillia, female plants that produce marijuana worth $1,800 to $2,000 an ounce. That makes the haul worth about a quarter-million dollars on the street, he estimated.
Rabon said they were the highest-quality plants he’s seen growing here in all his years as a law enforcement officer in Jackson County.
Each of the potted plants had its own 1,000-watt grow light, watering system and fertilizer dispenser, Rabon said, and each was about five feet tall and five feet in diameter. ......

I mean really!? An ounce going for a 1000 less than I could pick up a pound of high quality bud....

Some people deserve to be shot.

No, the cops know how much its really worth. They just say that because the more expensive it is, the worse the grower sounded.

Seems to be a problem with cops everywhere. They inflate the value off all their drug busts to make it seem more important than it was. $1000- $2000 an oz, yeah....right!

I know the whole $2000 an ounce is a load of shit, but if you think about it, he had 13 x 1000 watt lights (1 x 1000w per plant).

Its not that inconceivable that he could turn out a quarter of a million dollars worth of bud if he really knew what he was doing.

If you say a pound is worth $2500, depending on where you are (thats how much they are where I am), then he would only need to turn out 100 pound to do the $250,000 worth they are quoting.

I don't think it would be too hard to get 100 pound off of 13,000 watts. You would have to grow monster plants though if you are only growing 13 plants. That would be 7.7 pounds per plant.

Your right, im baked.

But I've seen an indoor plant (9 foot tall) produce just over 4 pound with a 600w HPS on the top, and 1 each on the sides (1800w total for one plant). It was grown in a factory so there was plenty of vertical space.

I saw that myself, both when growing, and also dried and weighed.

7.7 pound is almost double that though so your right, im just baked.

The cops know exactly how much the shits worth... whats sad is half the people that read the paper dont have a clue what its worth. It makes the cops look like they are doin a good job when they say they took a quarter million worth of drugs off the street... when in reality they just busted in some dude's house found some plants, took his shit, and now hes goin to jail with felony charges like a fuckin crimimal.

Weed is more expensive on the eastern seaboard and especially in states that suck all of my ass at once, like Florida. But $2,000 an ounce? That is 10x what I pay, more than 20x what it costs me to grow that much myself.

lol 2 grand an ounce in fla, no way. i went to orlando a few years back and we found so much bomb ass weed for cheap. ounces for $50 more than we pay for rego's up here, some of the best weed ive seen too. cops always lie about that shit to make themselves look better, bigger busts = bigger "rewards".

Cops upset me so much because they basically screw whoever they can as hard as they possiably can and get rewarded for it every time. Instead of just saying, Hey Joe Mexico got caught growing weed now he's going to jail! They say, Renaldo Hidalgo was BUSTED "marijuana cultivating" MILLIONS of dollars worth of pot! :cuss:

Hahahhaha Ya, lost the link I meant to put it up. Can't seem to figure out how I came across it. The irony is my parents are both cops out here in Los Angeles... probably the most badass cops at that cause they don't give a shit about weed. I plus it's practically legal here so blahhh

but ya I thought that was a joke my own father said the cops were probably stoned.
