YYC Grows yellow plants :-(

Today I'm noticing something nasty on my plants. I've looked at a few books and initially thought it was some sort of mildew. I think the girls look over watered but it's been almost a week between watering and the pots were light. A few days so I thought they looked hungry so yesterday I fed with 5.9pH , 1.3EC Maxigro.

Do you have a loupe/magnifying glass? You might have spider mites? Those little spots on the leaves in your photos look like mites possibly, but hard to tell with the resolution. The patches of necrosis (dead tissue) on the leaves doesn't look too bad, but you should verify if you have an outbreak starting. The same neem/rosemary oil spray can help with mites too, and there are stronger products too.

I had non cannabis plants with spider mites, what a pain in the ass! I didn't see anything moving and I couldn't rub it off the leaf. I was thinking of spraying h2o2 on soil and plant. I'll have to grab some neem from the store.

Plants look overwatering plus you've got them sitting in those trays of lecca which are staying wet which add to fungus and pest issues; also judging by your last pictures you have a mite infestation that you need to get on top of asap, good luck

Edit: also hard to tell but it doesn't look like you have gnats on those yellow sticky strips not sure what those bugs are but gnats are tiny black dots, doesn't look like that. And low humidity is not causing any of your issues

I've removed the plants from I top of the hydroton. I removed the humidifier for now and turned down the led to 100watts at the wall. Not having neem oil I decided to look at what I did have kicking around to try and help the plants. I bleached the floor of my tent and sprayed H2O2 on both sides of all the leaves. I then applied some diatomaceous earth to the surface of the soil for insect control. The plants look a bit better today so I'm thinking they were thirsty? It's been about 5 days since they were watered/fed and the pots were light. If anybody can tell me what sort of flies I've got I'd appreciate it. I think the first plant is beyond recovery. if it gets any worse I'm going to check its roots as I suspect they were eaten or something.

You can wait another day or two before watering probably. Don't worry so much about the flies- just continue to use sticky traps for those, and keep the watering to ~once per week. The main concern is to verify if you have mites, and respond accordingly asap. Worste case scenario, you end up scrapping this grow all together and start pver, and learn along the way! You're not that far in, so I'd even consider popping some new beans now, and see if they surpass these ones! :)

Nothing crawling around that I can see. I used a magnifying glass and also a 60x cheap microscope. I'll most likely have to water in about 5 days or so. Not a bad idea about popping more magic beans but I would want to keep them somewhere away from these plants just in case.

Dip in what exactly myke? I assume you hold them upside down (holding the dirt so it doesn't all fall out) and dunk the plant but not the pot? Even after my H2O2 and diatomaceous earth there is still some flies buzzing about. I grabbed some Insecticidal Soap and i'm going to hose the plants down. Not sure what else to do at the moment. Thanks.

Do you have a grow store nearby? There are products specifically made for killing spider mites that you can mix and spray or dunk the entire plant in (which is the better approach if feasible). You're lucky because you're plants are still small, so dunking is the best option for you.

Safers soap,its safe to use as spray or dunk.You can rinse with water after a minute or two then repeat again the next day.Pending how bad it is,house plants also is a problem.They can go into the shower and give them a spray.

Doh! I already hosed the plants, tent and soil quite thoroughly hours ago. Never rinsed it off either. Hopefully the cure doesn't do more damage. I still can't find any spider mites, I'm almost hoping they are the problem because at least then I would know what I'm dealing with.

My grow is toast. I saved one plant transplanted it and tossed it in a sunny window to see what happens to it. I still don't see any mites so there is something else going with it. Here is a of the garden just before I trashed the whole thing. Tent is taken down, everything packed away for now. One last picture to show how terrible things went, I suck!

Ps. I had the tent in the furnace room and things are tight In there. We have to get some work done on the plumbing so it was a good time to pack it in. I'll be growing again in the fall. I've got a nice stash from a couple of previous grows so I'm covered for months. Next time ...

That sucks man- you don't suck!! i was rooting for you, but think you just had a string of bad luck early on!! Oh well- minor loss at least! Keep us posted as you prep for the next grow!!! I'd start with some fresh soil mix and maybe a different set of fresh nutes at a minimum. Also, sterilize your tent and clean the general grow location really well before putting the tent back up. :peace:

Please let me know if/when you plan to start your next grow and I can meet up with you and help out if you like - I may be on the other side of the city from you, but I don't mind helping a brother out. If you like, I can help you get started with a waterfarm like I've got running...once you've got that setup running and dialed in, you won't go back to soil!! lol... :peace:

Thanks for the kind words gals /guys. I will certainly bleach or H2O2 my entire grow area and pots before I start my next grow. Either new soil or hydro, not sure which. The thing that scare me with hydroponics is that I shouldn't lift much more than 25lbs. Is the maintenance on a waterfarm /hydroponics hard on a person's back?
