Selfish how? I think its cruel to snare something( you have no idea what's going to get snared) and let it starve or freeze until a trapper checks his lines...and don't feed me that shit about every 24 hours blah blah ..most trappers ain't checking lines every 24 and 24 is still too long...

Trappers do check their lines ASAP dummy so folks don't steal their pelts, if you knew anything about hunting or trapping you would know that.

When the doctor went to Zimbabwe and paid tens of thousands of dollars for a hunting license, do you think it's reasonable to say that he should be able to rely on the expertise of his paid hunting guides? Is it fair to assume that he knew what was allowed, apart from what he was told?

A large part of what you pay for is local and legal knowledge of the game & the hunting process.
Your guide will absolutely know what is legal and what is not. Now whether or not he's ethical enough to justify something on the dark side is an individual thing.
But you can bet that the guide knew absolutely whom this lion was, I mean he's famous & lived in the back yard of his concession ffs.

Blaming the guide is a bit cheap tho, I can Google and find out there's less than 20,000 lions left in 3 seconds.

If you want to play the hunter's rights card, what about the right of other hunters when they become extinct from being irresponsibily killed?

Seriously, have people never seen a lion up close? They're some of the most majestic creatures on our planet, the idea of shooting one disgusts me.
