Obama has done as much as he legally can. And he is getting shit for it as it is. Read the OP.

Only one that can change the federal law and scheduling is

CONGRESS

Take it up with them

Well, I'm not sure about that argument Chesus. That would be a straw man in the same way Obamacare required Congress, so does legalization of marijuana. He has the legal means to get it done, but hasn't.

Now, with that said, personally, I find it more important that underprivileged citizens should have access to healthcare than to freely smoke pot. There are more pressing issues than legalization.

I do see light at the end of the tunnel though. During the next presidential term we will see a congressional proposal to legalize marijuana. It will come down to who is in office to determine if it passes or not. Republicans will not pass it. Democrats might. Libertarians will get high as fuck as they sign the bill.

I agree.

However, Pres. Obama has been ALL over lobbying congress for health care, gay this, that and the other, females in the military, and all other manner of issues "championed" by his party...except cannabis.

Why?

I understand his position on not wanting to enforce the law, but I don't understand why he is not trying to CHANGE a law he feels is unworthy of enforcing.

Also the fact the DEA is entirely under the remit of the Executive Branch...given it was formed by Executive Order.
